Absolutely Ridiculous! I spent 2 months in Ocho Rios. Solo; female traveler. I walked around by myself day and night time. Never for a moment felt unsafe! Your loss! People there are wonderful! Crime is happening amongst the locals. Absolutely loved Ochi. A simple "No Thanks" to those trying to sell is all you need to say.

It is NOT ridiculous. Jamaica is a cess pool. I lived here for a year as an AFS exchange student in the 90s. Not much has changed. I had forgotten about how everyone tries clever ways to get your money. It is very dangerous. One of the AFS'ers got forcibly robbed while she was sunbathing in a backyard in broad daylight.

Police escort from airport to ship, apparently due to traffic in Montego Bay. Luckily we went to Falmouth not Port Royal. Never felt safe enough to travel outside port area. Falmouth nice port.

Fraser, Visit Colon in Columbia and then come back and tell us which is worse, Ocho Rios or Colon, we have been to both places with two visits to Ocho Rios. We had a great time in Margaritaville on the first visit and did Dunnes River and the Bobsleigh on our second visit.

That is sad to hear about Jamaica. The rating will surely be a big hit to the tourist industry. I've only been there once on an MSC cruise and walked all over Falmouth and even went to a little beach where there were plenty of fishermen...a very local location...and never felt worried at all. But all of that was a couple years before all closing down in 2020. Plenty has changed since then. Pier runners...a hoot...maybe a big enough financial fine would solve the problem...there is just no need...just an example of pure entitlement. I really never find anything to complain about when it comes to food...just like the fact of not having to cook it myself...and ending with an ice cream makes anything missed in the buffet just fine and dandy! lol Enjoy!!

I stopped here on a HAL cruise and did the Dunns River Falls excursion. After leaving the falls I was harassed by locals for money and to buy their junk. When I politely declined I was met with insults. I will never again get off the ship in Jamaica. Just made me uncomfortable. Nassau isn't much better.

My Husband and I took a cruise to Jamaica Montego Bay & Grand Cayman took tours (excursions from the cruise line Carnival) went to the beaches didn't have any problems. They knew where to take us so........... I'm from the U.S. this county needs to put out a level 4 on itself.

Omg. Jamaica is a country. Montego Bay and Kingston are not a couple of miles away. Also stay off the US government site. Americans are afraid of travel, most don't have passports, and the government does this on purpose to encourage travel to Orlando and Vegas. I'm gonna finish the video but as someone who has also docked there before and loved Ocho Rios, it's gonna be tough considering you let government people develop your opinion about a country before going there. I would love to see the Mexican and Jamaican governments issue a travel warning due to crime fir Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago and New Orleans cause thars where crime in North america is.
