This is our 30th Wedding Anniversary trip we've been planning since February 2024.
We started our trip October 13th leaving Toronto, Canada and flew direct to Venice, Italy. We have now finished our 10 day Mediterranean Cruise on the Norwegian Dawn Cruise Ship and are spending 4 days exploring Athens, Greece..
Today we visit the Acropolis and walk around the Parthenon. Then we visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus. After that carol and I walk through the Athens National Garden and walk the track at Panathenaic Stadium. For dinner we checked out this restaurant called The Greco's Project and order a Souvlaki dinner with chicken and pork.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens, Greece, and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. The word Acropolis is from the Greek words ἄκρον and πόλις.
