To the left of the entrance (first road, outer edge) will take you to the (pirate's cove"...i think is name) where you can find a LOT of accessories/weaponry while the back most road...to the right of the jousting arena and past the "May Pole" (FOOD...LOTS OF FOOD) will take you to the backside where there are more entertaining rides and games (for kids)......GOD I MISS THIS PLACE!

I looked forward to fall every year because of the Renaissance Fair. The first time my family and I went, we rented costumes that was at the front gate after we realized we could wear costumes at the fair. After that, it became my family's tradtion to go every year and it was a must to go in costume. I loved going every year and seeing all the costumes and stores. It was also customary for me and my family to find an item or piece of clothing to add on to our costumes. The food is great, especially the turkey legs! 🤤 The entertainment was everywhere! You can even have your birthday and a wedding there where you get escorted by the king's guard! And around noon, you get to see the parade of the stores, groups, and others you see around the fair! Each weekend that it's open has a theme from fairies to pirates to barbarians to knights. It even runs trough Halloween so the stores and staff walking around have candy to give out to trick or treaters. And the last weekend it's open is christmas themed to welcome the holiday. As the years went by it grew in popularity which unfortunately meant more drunkards, so if you plan to take children with you, beware! Because you will see and hear things that are adult themed.

If you and anyone else wants a bit of advice on what is the best weekend to go if you aren't drawn to any one weekend in particular, the last weekend, Celtic Christmas, is by far the best. Not only do they put out a bunch of great Christmas decorations, but the weekend is 3 days instead of 2, you have the best chance of it being cool (or even cold), and lots of stores have stuff on sale. Hope you come back for another go!

They're actually cared for very well. They rotate so no one gets tired and they close the rides an hour before the fire show to remove them from the property so the fireworks don't scare them. I worked the TRF and hung out with the animal handlers.

Love the Steampunk Emporium shoutout!! I got one of their leather hip bags (in a style they no longer sell, actually) 10 years ago and it's held up amazingly! I wear it every day in place of a purse since it fits my phone, wallet, and keys and I'm not the type to carry a lot with me. Despite daily wear it only has needed a few minor repairs - replacing some rivets that bent after 6 years and redoing some stitching this year that had begun to unravel. So if you want a bag that gets you plenty of compliments and lasts a decade, I highly recommend them! That said, always fun to see someone new to permanent structure ren fests visit one - part of the reason they aren't open year-round is because the vendors travel to fests all over the country! in fact, the texas ren fest overlaps entirely with the carolinas ren fest, and it starts just after the second-biggest (by attendance size), the minnesota fest, which is also my home fest!

I've been going to the Texas Renfest for almost 50 years. Going again this weekend for Opening day 23'. The best period in my opinion was in the 1990s. It's gotten way to busy and crowded with to many shops. Food is outrageously priced now. $18 for a turkey leg ???? I used to buy them there for $6-7. Don't care for the "themed" weekends they do now. "Pirate" weekend, " Super Hero" weekend ??? What does that have to do with Renaissance ??? Not saying it isn't interesting to go if you've never been but it isn't the same anymore and very commercialized now. I only go once every couple years just to have a few food items I can only get there once a year and to see what's changed. I've always wanted to go to Scarborough Fair near Dallas. Maybe try next year .

I didn’t know it was the biggest but it’s the only one I’ve ever gone to and I love it. Thank you for the video.

I didn't know it was 70 acres. I wonder if its always been that big or if they added to it. I've been at least 3 or 4 times. Last time I was there was mid 2000s. Every time was a good time and it's very easy to get lost or separated from your party. I live in Germany now so at least every month there is a medieval festival. For anyone who is doubting the authenticity of the renaissance festival in Texas....its legit with any thing I've been to here in Germany and much much larger.

Tks. for posting well done. I love Renn fairs. I started out as a Musketeer because I was trained as a Fencer while going thru college. Problem was at many Renn Fairs most go as a Pirate. As a Musketeer I was sort of the odd man out being one of the Kings Guard. I then acquired enough wardrobe and armor to transform to the famous explorer Capt. Cortez. My next purchases will be to become the Wizard Merlin from the Excalibur movie. The two major pieces I need to have hand made are the Merlin's Silver Skull cap, and then Merlins Staff will have some high tech abilities to appear like I am magic casting. Hazar!!!!!!!

If you ever make it to Sherwood Faire, ask for the Bee Sting, it's not on the menu but most places serve it. It's half mead and half cider, tastes incredible and is the most alcohol you can get for the price in the faire. Not sure if TXRF offers it...?

I would love to watch a Renaissance play of a modern novel or movie. That would be dope.

It’s a cosplay fair. They tossed the renaissance away long ago.
