I've always wanted to go but we live in Riverside, CA. So we always went to The Ren Pleasure Faire when it was in Devore (videos on my channel) from 1989 - 2002. But that looks amazing....great video 💖☮

The "Greek Ampitheater" (my name for it...(haven't been in a few years) is the best as is the "Sea Dragon" ....the ampitheater has great dancing and great music with a LOT of seating area to enjoy the gyro's , kababs and, my favorite, the Baklava! To the left of the entrance (first road, outer edge) will take you to the (pirate's cove"...i think is name) where you can find a LOT of accessories/weaponry while the back most road...to the right of the jousting arena and past the "May Pole" (FOOD...LOTS OF FOOD) will take you to the backside where there are more entertaining rides and games (for kids)......GOD I MISS THIS PLACE!

Pro Tip: go Halloween weekend and camp Fri-Sun. If you like to party and revel in debauchery after hours…it is Legendary! I looked forward to fall every year because of the Renaissance Fair. The first time my family and I went, we rented costumes that was at the front gate after we realized we could wear costumes at the fair. After that, it became my family's tradtion to go every year and it was a must to go in costume. I loved going every year and seeing all the costumes and stores. It was also customary for me and my family to find an item or piece of clothing to add on to our costumes. The food is great, especially the turkey legs! 🤤 The entertainment was everywhere! You can even have your birthday and a wedding there where you get escorted by the king's guard! And around noon, you get to see the parade of the stores, groups, and others you see around the fair! Each weekend that it's open has a theme from fairies to pirates to barbarians to knights. It even runs trough Halloween so the stores and staff walking around have candy to give out to trick or treaters. And the last weekend it's open is christmas themed to welcome the holiday. As the years went by it grew in popularity which unfortunately meant more drunkards, so if you plan to take children with you, beware! Because you will see and hear things that are adult themed.

They have a fairly easy life but they have to work just like many of us do. They work four month a year and there are weight restrictions on riders. They are very friendly and sociable elephants and have it much better than zoo captives or of wild elephants facing habitat destruction and poachers.

They're actually cared for very well. They rotate so no one gets tired and they close the rides an hour before the fire show to remove them from the property so the fireworks don't scare them. I worked the TRF and hung out with the animal handlers.

Love the Steampunk Emporium shoutout!! I got one of their leather hip bags (in a style they no longer sell, actually) 10 years ago and it's held up amazingly! I wear it every day in place of a purse since it fits my phone, wallet, and keys and I'm not the type to carry a lot with me. Despite daily wear it only has needed a few minor repairs - replacing some rivets that bent after 6 years and redoing some stitching this year that had begun to unravel. So if you want a bag that gets you plenty of compliments and lasts a decade, I highly recommend them! That said, always fun to see someone new to permanent structure ren fests visit one - part of the reason they aren't open year-round is because the vendors travel to fests all over the country! in fact, the texas ren fest overlaps entirely with the carolinas ren fest, and it starts just after the second-biggest (by attendance size), the minnesota fest, which is also my home fest!

I worked this fair in my first year traveling! I was in the German district of the Faire near where the outdoor wedding halls were at the time. I saw some familiar stuff! I'm gearing up for PA's last Renaissance Faire weekend and then stock up on suncatchers for my aunt to take with her to the next Faire. She doesn't participate at TX's Faire anymore. I worked her and her business partner's kid's costumes back then, and she sold her handmade messenger bags nearby. I do not miss working in a tent on a hill! PA has a booth =)

If you and anyone else wants a bit of advice on what is the best weekend to go if you aren't drawn to any one weekend in particular, the last weekend, Celtic Christmas, is by far the best. Not only do they put out a bunch of great Christmas decorations, but the weekend is 3 days instead of 2, you have the best chance of it being cool (or even cold), and lots of stores have stuff on sale. Hope you come back for another go!

Tks. for posting well done. I love Renn fairs. I started out as a Musketeer because I was trained as a Fencer while going thru college. Problem was at many Renn Fairs most go as a Pirate. As a Musketeer I was sort of the odd man out being one of the Kings Guard. I then acquired enough wardrobe and armor to transform to the famous explorer Capt. Cortez. My next purchases will be to become the Wizard Merlin from the Excalibur movie. The two major pieces I need to have hand made are the Merlin's Silver Skull cap, and then Merlins Staff will have some high tech abilities to appear like I am magic casting. Hazar!!!!!!!

I don't know if they still do it, or if you stayed long enough to see, but the end-of-night firedancing and firework celebration at the jousting arena is definitely something to experience.

Went back in 2021. We had a great time. I wish the garden didnt smell bad. The morning was the most enjoyable time for us. It had fewer people. By 2 pm it was a zoo of bodies and dust clouds.

I just got finished going to Norman’s Medieval Fair in Oklahoma, where it cost $10.00 for parking, free admission, free maps, same prices for food, drinks, clothes, jewelry, $10.00 for rides, and there used to be elephant rides, but they’ve phased that out in recent years. It’s always a fun experience I look forward to every year! I’m glad to check out Ren Faires in other states through your videos!

You have to check out the Kaltenberger Ritterturnier knights festival in Germany. By far the coolest mideval festival I have ever seen. Been twice now and its well worth a visit if you enjoyed this one in Texas.

Our Colorado Ren Fest used to have elephants, camels, llamas and a big cat show with cats from a wildlife rescue (the shows helped them earn money for their organization) but our Governor outlawed out-of-state animal shows, so the animals that were part of the faire for decades are now gone. Guess I'll have to go to the Texas Faire to see them!

Unless youve been its hard to really explain how big this place is. Their parking lot is the size of other faires entire venues. You can just walk around without stopping for hours and not make it through the entire park.

If you ever make it to Sherwood Faire, ask for the Bee Sting, it's not on the menu but most places serve it. It's half mead and half cider, tastes incredible and is the most alcohol you can get for the price in the faire. Not sure if TXRF offers it...?

The whole point of the faires if you are not shopping is to watch the entertainment; bands, comedy troupes, acrobats...these guys travel from faire to faire and honestly make their living as entertainers. My local faire in Georgia is smaller than this one, though one of the largest in the southeast, and in 2 days we could not manage to see all the shows on the schedule.
