I completely agree with you. I live in a tiny village in Aberdeenshire, and I buy my meat from the butchers, my fruit and veg from the the local farm which includes my milk. I bake my own bread and I cook my own food from home from scratch. I don't eat any processed or ultra processed food. This is why the UK has become one of the fattest countries in the world because we've become like America. Lazy, unhealthy, won't cook, some people don't work, and blame everything on minorities. I spend about 30 quid a month on food which I make at home. Healthy food isn't expensive, it's ultra processed food that's expensive because you're buying it because of convenience and you can't be bothered to cook.

Having worked for 30 years in supermarket retailing in both my native Republic of Ireland and here in the U.K., where I’ve lived for 23 years, I have heard that this is going to be the future in respect of the first store and we are already starting to see some evidence of this here in the U.K. - it is known that Amazon has long-term plans to take over all of the existing U.K. supermarket chains and turn them fully automatic, totally reliant on modern technology, as they have had successful trials in other countries - personally, at age 54, I don’t like this change, as I used to work for an Irish supermarket called Superquinn in my teens in the 80’s and I highly value personal face-to-face contact with the staff in the stores - although I’m able to use them, I already dislike self-service checkouts here in the U.K. and I prefer to interact with a staff member in the store, which is why going home to my local stores in Ireland is such a pleasure, as many SuperValu staff are ex-Superquinn, just like many Morrisons staff here in the U.K. are ex-Tesco staff - I don’t want to deal with a machine or a robot, I want to deal with a real person behind the checkouts or on shop floor, as I believe that customer service is best done by people not machines nor robots, human interaction is priceless and is timeless
@BlackWidow00741Ай бұрын
I disagree. However, I live in the US. They have self checkouts and one register open. The self checkouts are heavily monitored by a CSM (customer service manager) who literally watches your every move. They stop your register if THEY can't keep up with YOU scanning your groceries. The biggest amount I've done myself is $500. She stopped my register nine different times, was extremely rude, and questioned my every move. There's one CSM for all the self checkouts. They always focus on me because I use recyclable bags. ♻️ You'd think that's a good thing, but apparently not. I live in Virginia in a moderate sized town. I wish we had nice friendly people such as yourself, but we don't.
@SarahBevan-p2l2 ай бұрын
All supermarkets have security cameras. Of course they are going to need to watch as you are pretty much doing self checkout as you go
