I used to get grocery basics just last year like eggs bread cereal etc couple things for under 50.00 now its 100.00 every time we shop 😮it’s crazy here , McDonald’s used to be the cheapest place to eat , a meal for 5.00 niw it’s over 10.00 a meal now so basically most food items here are double and even triple the normal price it was a year ago 😢

Having worked for 30 years in supermarket retailing in both my native Republic of Ireland and here in the U.K., where I’ve lived for 23 years, I have heard that this is going to be the future in respect of the first store and we are already starting to see some evidence of this here in the U.K. - it is known that Amazon has long-term plans to take over all of the existing U.K. supermarket chains and turn them fully automatic, totally reliant on modern technology, as they have had successful trials in other countries - personally, at age 54, I don’t like this change, as I used to work for an Irish supermarket called Superquinn in my teens in the 80’s and I highly value personal face-to-face contact with the staff in the stores - although I’m able to use them, I already dislike self-service checkouts here in the U.K. and I prefer to interact with a staff member in the store, which is why going home to my local stores in Ireland is such a pleasure, as many SuperValu staff are ex-Superquinn, just like many Morrisons staff here in the U.K. are ex-Tesco staff - I don’t want to deal with a machine or a robot, I want to deal with a real person behind the checkouts or on shop floor, as I believe that customer service is best done by people not machines nor robots, human interaction is priceless and is timeless

This was so interesting to watch. I haven’t seen any Amazon Fresh shops in Ireland yet so I wonder if they’ll come here eventually 🤔 The crowds and queue in Sainsbury’s is exactly why I use the scan as you shop feature in Tesco or SuperValu in the quieter evenings to avoid that feeling at all costs. Waiting a week and its not even sent out is just ridiculous. Seems Amazon is too busy trying to get your money anyway it can through prime, music or video streaming, retail groceries that they dont care about the core of their business and their customer support is just useless.

Fresh verses the second shops crap I would do Amazon any day, even for the peace as yeah second store was like a normal cattle station of a supermarket- I go to the markets for all fresh fruit, veg, fish, a butcher for meat etc and then the supermarket that has the best specials out of all the giant supermarket’s and I live in Australia 🇦🇺, so zero Amazon chance of it ever been here, but yeah that’s what life has come to and yes I sometimes pay a little more like maybe $10-20 more for the better quality as it lasts longer too and it helps too if you have fridge containers etc to keep your fresh - fresh for as long as possible 👌😊

I would not go into an amazon grocery store. Ever.
@Kinnacat19 күн бұрын
Amazon owns Whole Foods, so the Amazon branded items are rebranded Whole Foods products which explains the inflated prices. Also, the reason for all the cameras is because there's no AI computer, it's about a 1000 humans watching the cameras in India to get your total.. As with all things, Amazon is quietly abusing dirt cheap labor to offer mild convenience at higher prices.

Modern convenience stores are horrible, they’re busy, chaotic and understaffed. My local Sainsburys is just unpleasant, security guard scowls at you when you walk in, they only have self checkouts which work 50% of the time, If you buy booze you stand there for 3 minutes waiting for a staff member to approve and they seem pissed off having to do it. All the stores here have at least one register in the small store . That's mostly for food stamps tbh . The large store in VA. Has registers and employees, also in house kitchen and bakery. Also there are many cameras, but most of the devices in the ceiling are sensors. Always put things you don't want back where you got them from so you don't get charged.
