I remember as a kid picking up stories on obscure late night AM stations. It was a lot of fun listening and using my imagination.

Wisconsin Public Radio has been airing Old Time Radio Drama every weekend since I was a kid. That's where I first heard a lot of these shows.

Alot of americans and the worlds lost its respect dignity honor and decency along with losing good old fashioned entertainment. ... todays media is brainwashing materials

+Chad Gatter Yes, so much of talk radio is a one sided conversation. A person could listen to these and work or go to sleep and not get upset over the world today.

Sitting around the radio listening to stories being told was the modern equivalent of tales told around campfires for centuries.
@skidzholeshot13167 жыл бұрын
lol the modern equivelent IS STILL sitting round camfires telling stories
@thekaiser43334 жыл бұрын
"Campfires"? Nonsense. Fires are strictly prohibited in concentration camps. Health and safety regulations.

When I was in my 20s, a comic-book company did full-color reprints of the old EC comics from the fifties. The horror comics, sure, but also Weird Science and Weird Science-Fantasy. These old-time radio shows feel like adaptations of those three- and four-page sci-fi comic-book stories. I loved them and I love these shows.

I love it when something like this graces some weird frequency on shortwave or even a couple times on nighttime broadcast AM; I always feel like it's someone wanting to send some time-traveling signal chills down my spine (esp. on Halloween). I try to not look at a video feed and let my mind picture the story in my head.

Picturing the story in your head is exactly what people use to do before TV, the family would gather around the radio and enjoy entertainment like this.

I come from looking at German novels called "Utopia Zukunftsroman". There is an issue called Dimension X, series 166. I believe it was first written in French as La dimension X.

That was crazy good. Growing up my parents didn't let me watch a lot of T.V. instead me and the other kids had cassette tapes of old Bible stories. Listening to this really took me back, it was great and to think I only found all this because I was modding Fallout 4 and someone had put this in as a radio mod.

Was it Old World Radio Boston? Or another mod that adds even more radio plays?
@2400dimension8 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was the old world one
@SocktheWorm8 жыл бұрын
Huh. Are you talking about X Minus One, or was Dimension X on there, too? I don't remember it being one of the stations.
@2400dimension8 жыл бұрын
No it wasn't but its all relatively similar
@SocktheWorm8 жыл бұрын
2400dimension Dimension X directly preceded X Minus One and even has many of the same episodes. To be honest, X Minus One is about the only OWR station I listen to. I have a DCR mod to add another hundred or so tracks that spice it up without breaking theme.
