We’re going to Big Bend in a couple of weeks kzbin.infoUgkxSt0aBrzyS1nxONvwm1e0u7ZDFD_eypAO so I bought these to use during the hikes, didn’t want to miss anything. As you can see by the photos I tested the phone adapter by taking a phone of a power pole on the next block and you can see the results. It took a couple of minutes to line the phone camera up to the eye piece, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but once it was longed up it stayed in place without any issues. So far I’m impressed with the feel and the weight, the neck strap is wide and soft so it feels good on my neck. I look forward to using it with my friend and grandson in Big Bend!

My Celestron Skymaster 15x70s were out of collimation but I fixed them by cutting away the rubber grip over one of the screws on the right side right above the eyepiece and realigned them with a small screwdriver. I use mine handheld. Fill in the support bracket with JB weld or epoxy to stabilize it. Hot glue might work as well. The optical quality on mine is acceptable.

Thanks for that, very useful and detailed review. I've been using my birdwatching 7x42 so I have ordered these, hope I get a good pair. I am finding my way around the sky (slowly) before I even think of buying a scope. I'm lucky to live under dark skies so I think these will be great for hopping around the stars. Luckily I have a quality camera tripod, and a monopod for when I go out walking with my dogs. I'm a busy man so binoculars allow me to combine hobbies- I always take my 7x42 out fishing at night if it looks clear, though these will be too big for that. You are right that binoculars are a different experience to scopes, and there is a lot to be said for the hassle-free experience.

Great Video My Friend, Greetings from the USA. I ordered a pair of 25x70 Celestron SkyMasters yesterday from Amazon and I’m pacing around the house today like a kid on Christmas. I had been using an older pair of Bushnell 16x50 and after doing some research, came across the Celestron SkyMaster and they were only $69 bucks USD so I figured what the hell. In addition I spent another $9.49 for the Barska Metal Tripod Mount as I had read that the one that comes with the Celestron didn’t fit the bill and displayed more torquing than I’m comfortable with, like you demonstrated in your video. Look forward to checking out some of your other videos and you’ve just earned another Sub. Hope you’re having a great day.

Of course this for me was addicting, Bino's Just Gave That 3-D, Living View! Wished I'd kept em. Eventually moved up to 20x100, I saw whirlpool Galaxy Clearly, Blew my Mind, off Handle Big Dipper! Takes little time set up, unlike the Grab Go 15x70's! BTW, Well Done! On The Video!

Clear and simple, very authentic review! With a Bresser 200mm Mesier telescope, we decided to have an additional 'star- or skyfinder' optic, just to already scan the sky. It's appear to be the normal add-on to a high magnifying telescope

Because of your review I bought these, but made sure to check the colimation in the store. Luckily I think I got a really excellent pair, which don't seem even to have the "coma" effect! The field of view is all quality! I completely agree with everything you've said about these binoculars. They're excellent for me, starting out in astronomy, to be able to begin to learn the sky and the hobby. I can see the moons of jupiter, the phases of venus, and the Andromeda galaxy! And they were only $70 CAD at Canadian Tire! To think I looked at used $80 20x50 binos on Kijiji... Very happy with these instead. Love from Edmonton!

It is easy to fill the sides of the tripod bracket with resin, to make it rigid and stop the wobble. Or make a metal solid bracket if you have the tools and know-how.
@Splitbrains5 жыл бұрын
what kind of resin?
@birdwing984 жыл бұрын
@@Splitbrains There is a two-part epoxy that is thick like putty called "JB Weld." No spills, no drips when using. Use medium grit sandpaper to roughen the plastic surface before applying putty.

A very good review, well done. I have two pairs of binoculars, 10 x 50 from Hoya, and 16 x 80 by Celestron. The only review I've seen for a 16 x 80 was by an Indian gent, but I couldn't understand a word he said. Excellent review. I just took delivery of a pair in order to take on vacation in Scotland, much more practical than a telescope. I can use them day and night. I'm really looking forward to the trip now. It was very useful to know what deep space objects can be seen and what craters on the moon should be visible. That's always a good benchmark and gives me something to aim at. The Velbron tripod head is what is probably causing the shake. Too much plastic in them. I ditched mine for video camera work and bought a proper metal video head which is much more stable.

Hello. I have the same pair of Skymaster binoculars. I noticed you showed the wobble in the tripod mounting bracket that I experienced. Here's a fix. (Unless you want to purchase or make a stronger bracket system), just fill the factory bracket with an epoxy. Careful since some epoxies do not adhere very well to the plastic they use. If that is the case, you might want to cover the total bracket all the way around so the epoxy sticks to itself. Although I did not do this next tip, you can add some small metal pieces into the epoxy for added long term strength. That is kind of like re-rod in cement

Great video. I just got my first pair(s) or binoculars for astronomy and had a few things to learn. Sometimes the basics and first steps are what people are looking for and help the most. I learned zoom binoculars are probably junk and the cheapest binoculars are CHEAP. You don't get great optics and the best lenses spending the least. A pair of Thrift store $5 binos cleaned and collimated can be better than a cheap pair of chinese binos with a tiny field of view and crumby lenses and prisms. Binoculars allow you to step into the sky and walk around. I got a great pair of AMP binos for my second pair. They are a bit of an investment but with anything quality they will hold their value. I also got a great deal on them and I know I could make money if I sold them. They weigh 15 pounds and have a huge field of view and at 28X you need a solid mount for them but the view is unreal. I like watching satellites.

Such a great review! Would you recommend a 10x50 bk7 or a 10x42 bak4? Do you think I should prioritize a 50mm aperture or a bak4 prism? (The bk7 is a Celestron upclose g2 10x50 and the bak4 is a SVBONY SV47)

You can wear a piece of thick paper on the shaft, and while fixing the screw, the binocular will squeeze the paper very tight and shaking will be removed.
