Hello sir I have I small doubt during expansion and compression some amount of pressure is exerted on the piston .so there will be change in pressure. Thank you

If the piston moves sufficiently slowly, we can make the approximation that the pressure is constant.

@@Elucyda Are we considering the piston to be massless here? will there still be any work happening in the expansion of gas if we consider a massless piston?

I think you did a really good job on the piston explanation of the pv diagram. But the entire piston explanation is not intuitive it doesn't explain why would a piston behave like that there's no connection to reality that's intuitive. And then it seems like right after we're talking about an open system the explanations tend to jump towards a close system and then to statistical mechanics they're just so all over the place that it's really difficult to see the connections between them. It's not a criticism of you it's the entire setup that I don't really like. I'm having a really hard time finding any other explanation besides the piston.
