20:20 i found way that significantly reduces the time it takes to render something in cycles (im talking up to 100 times faster). in the cycles render tab scroll down to performance, under "threads" set "thread mode" from auto detect to fixed, then multiply whatever number is there by 8, then render. i suggest before you hit render close any heavy programs you have open, then refresh your computer from the home screen. once you hit render youll see how significantly faster it renders your animation/image. this comes at the cost of your computer being practically unusable at the time of the render (it will get extremely laggy if you try to use it for something else, so i dont suggest you do that) but most importantly, no quality is lost at the render! you can test it now if you want, render normally then render with this method and see the time difference.

I tried this and it didn't do anything for me. It might be because I can't use my GPU for Blender, what do you think?
@otosakanum2
@otosakanum2 11 ай бұрын
@@ArijanRace hmmm i think it might be because you can't use your gpu for blender, though another way to do it with your cpu is to open task manager, head over to details, right click blender then set priority and set it to "realtime" or "high" then render, maybe it will speed up your render (make sure the threads number is multiplied by 8)
@sanjaux
@sanjaux 5 ай бұрын
Disclaimer, this only works when you’re using your CPU to render but not for GPU rendering. The number you multiply is based on how many cores you have, if you have 16 you can use 16 for example. If you have a GPU just keep using that instead though.

Thank you for the kind words. Currently I am planning to increase the output intensity even further, so that will be interesting. My eBook currently has a section in which I explained the principles which I use for topology for beginners. In future updates I would like to expand on it and add more exercises since there is clearly interest in the topic. Let me know what you think about it, feedback helps me a lot and I update based on it.

thank you are a true inspiration you can get pretty realistic quality using eevee as well if you check some options like -using 128 sample -check ambient occlusion and screen space reflection -check high bit depth and set cube size to higher resolution like 1024px -check contact shadows for all the lights in the scene use a low strength HDRI environment image for some cool reflection without loosing shadows from the lights me regards

The all "grid fill" created a giant amount of poly, so no. You can simply use some Booleans and ngons. This is clearly a static object so no need to sub d the mesh for games. Probably "bad ngon modelling" would be something like 5.000 triangles and "good sub d topology all quads" like 40.000. This is a good example when "bad topology" is better for games.

the sad thing about this is that if you were to make it in maya there is no native grid fill so either you are getting an addon or doing it with nodes i guess else you need to do the equivalent of fill hole and knife tool manually, at least i found someone that made an addon for it so i guess it is fine
