Theres 2 antennas on the drone to modify. FPV and Control. Just drilling holes for the existing antennas to come out the top of the drone vertically is probably good enough, as most whips are just pieces of wire the same length as stock with plastic on them. I see at least double range by doing that and putting an sma mounted antenna on the controller.

Awesome video! That visuo is a tough quadcopter and you have proved how capable it is, don't give up on it and dump it now you have a mavic air!! I'm sure if you crashed the air it wouldn't be as durable as the visuo ? ;) and a lot more expensive to fix! :( I'm sure your videos have inspired a lot of visuo owners like myself, please continue pushing it's boundaries :)

I enjoyed this video. Had this drone, too and saw your video on the wifi extender, which worked great (but I never got past 1km, I live in an hilly area). Upgraded to a GDU O2 recently. Don't throw away the visuo drone! You can't hit trees with the DJI drone without having a heart attack, while the visuo drone will just shrug it off. ;-)

Thanks for a nice comment. I agree - Mavic (for photo/video) and Visuo (for fun&adventure) are two different tools for two different purposes. They just both happen to fly.

I got one of these.. I fly it like 1km from my balcony. Cost me 200 Canadian. For everything. 3 batteries, wifi extender and power bank. The other 900 bucks I spent on beer and food

Sometimes motors running and the busy processor on the drone can influence the wifi performance negatively. Which could explain why the distance you got decreased so much when you did flight tests.

You no longer need to modify the battery now if you have the latest version of "XS-809HW" which is the "VISUO XS809S Battle Shark". Battle shark has a default flight time of 18 minutes right out the bath. tried it with a XiaoMi Mi portable repeater and reached 1K using the mobile wi-fi remote.

Thanks. You configure the extender with your phone's web browser. First connect to the extender's wifi network and the go to usbwifi.cn address.

The external antenna if a wifi antenna. I didn't touch the controller antenna.

congratulations for the video! The change was done very well, I unfortunately have a eachine e58 and I diden't think would bear the weight of the antenna .... for now I have only modificated the remote control. It would be nice if your wifi repeater had the SMA connector to make us connect a directive antenna such as the self-built Wi-Fi antenna built with the baileys tube I think you could push even further ...

You don't need the hard plastic around the added antenna, you can just put any flexible plastic tube around the wire just enough to protect and rigidify and gain some weight.

Probably. My 60 gram battery is relatively heavy. You could find lighter cells with same energy. By the way, there is also even newer version XS812 that has gps.

good video, maybe you could design a relay that would be dropped easily on the ground if you wanted to drop a relay in flight maybe set up something similar to the air bag setup in a car but use helium in a balloon it would drift out of range but possibly taking a mini drone combined with a helium balloon to keep a position relaying the signal giving you a lot of distance. I'm surprised helium isn't being used with drones and also parachutes in case of failure.

Hi, Quite interesting. Go my Visuo also customize. Hopefully you keep these topics posts. Could it be that the distance is reduced by additional battery use by motors? Possible helps a capacitor. Or a separate battery for the camera.

Take any battery 2S, 3S and so on, desolder into parts, and you'll get 2, 3 respectivelly same 1S 3.7V batteries...
