2:43 -- This is very strange. I did a teardown of this quad because when I looked into my mSD card slot, there is just nothing. I opened it up to see if maybe the mSD card holder had fallen inside the quad, but no, it was nowhere to be found. A friend of mine recieved this exact quad too, the XS809W and he has no mSD card slot as well. Yes, I double checked -- it's the Visuo XS809W. There are two different versions of the XS809W. The 720p version with SD card recording is available exclusively through TomTop here goo.gl/AMqJg2 There is also a lower cost 0.3MP WiFi version available from all vendors. It does not have a recorder, but still has an empty inoperative SD card slot. This is the one that I suspect that you have goo.gl/mnlTvN

I think altitude hold creates problems for beginners as they become dependent on it (same with headless mode). If you intend to ever try out FPV racer quadcopters, you'll have an extremely hard time transitioning to them.

They only work for the Altitude Hold XS809HW version kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWKofYeQm7ljjqc But if you have the original non altitude hold version XS809W, be thankful. That is a much more maneuverable and sporty flier than the altitude hold version. The 2MP XS809W is also now out of production, and very hard to find.

Yes, altitude hold would be helpful for selfies. Some are already advertising the hw version, but no-one has them in stock yet. And unfortunately I have not heard any word when it will be release.

If the unit controls via WiFi (using a phone), does it also control via WiFi with the controller? Or does it ALSO have a conventional 2.4ghz receiver (non-WiFi)? After flying a Parrot, I'm pretty clear that not only is using a phone bad, but using WiFi is useless too.

Mine just got delivered today 😃 first flight was going well until it flew into a tree! Got stuck and had a bit of a nightmare trying to get it out. No damage other than one prop guard it seems. The concept is good ... kind of a mini copy of the DJI Mavic. Glad that it is not altitude hold, and it does seem to fly fairly well for a toy grade quad. The video doesn't have any Jello, which is nice, and the color saturation is good and stable. Resolution is right for 720P (equivalent to an 808 Keychain #16 V3 cam). Now for the things I don't like. Of course, #1 is the proprietary battery. Still, that's not really a "deal breaker", since spares are available and not over priced ( $7.39 ea. for a 900mah 1S isn't bad). #2 is that you must control the camera via a Wi-Fi app. I will look to see if they have a version where the camera buttons on the TX DO work. #3, which was the most glaring, was the frame drops in the 720P record mode off your sdcard. Now, that could be because of a poor quality sdcard, but it also could be because of the camera. I'd say it has potential. You didn't test to see what happens if you shut the TX off. Do the motors stop after 3 seconds or do they continue to run? You also didn't test the "motor kill" button, which is important for a brushed motor quadcopter. I also worry about the ease with which dirt got into the gears (a killer for brushed motors) and the ruggedness of the folding arms (how many deployments until contacts wear out or the wires to the motors break?) Will have to look at some other reviews to see what others have found on it, and explore if there's a version with a camera you can control from the TX . Centered left throttle joysticks are only found on drones with altitude hold feature. The XS8009W is an early version that did not have the altitude hold feature. However the more recent versions of this drone all now have altitude hold with centered joysticks.

How do you arm it? Mine seems not to even set up the connection with joystick anyhow. Did everything as manual told me to, but nothing happend after tilting up, down the height stick, no auto-take off, and no engines running, trying to tilt downwards-inwards both sticks didn't help either.

Not arming is usually caused by the quadcopter's battery not being fully charged.

I don't even know when my battery is fully charged because the red led is blinking once I plug the usb cable in, just for a millisecond, then disappears. It can sit for an hour or 2, but nothing happens, when I plug back the battery to the drone it runs for about 30 seconds, then turns off, the wifi signal isn't appearing at all. I think that they've just sent me a faulty battery and I have to replace it (Tomtop, I mean).

+kondziu124 yeah sounds like battery hasn't been charged. Plug in the charger without the battery to verify that power is actually going to the charger. Then plug in the battery to the charger.

The power is going thru it as it's working when I plug it into my phone and charge it, the red light is still and visible, but just when I plug it into the battery, all things I mentioned above happen.

Are you using the mini USB cable that came with it to charge it? Also, as this battery is somewhat larger than your phone's battery, I would recommend using a wall charge with at least 2 Amp power to charge the battery, You could be waiting a very long time to charge using a phone 500mah chargers, or your computer USB port, to charge it. Wall charger's are cheap on Amazon.

Hello, I just got this drone, how are you suppose to charge it? I thought this drone has Li-po battery, but NO charger was included and it looks that it does not have overcharge protection system built into the battery which is really dangerous for a li-po. However, after some research, I found some sources say that the battery is lithium-ion, but the product advertise it as Li-Po. I am really confused with this information. You should have also received a microUSB charging cable with overcharge dongle goo.gl/VErSuq Recommend searching through your package again for this cable. If it didn't come with your package, recommend contacting your vendor's customer service to see if they can provide another. It shouldn't be a problem, as it is a common and very inexpensive part.

It's one of the better ones in this price range. If you're a beginner, recommend flying in an open field if you can find one. That way, you'll have room to make errors, and correct those errors. Also strongly recommend not sending the drone any higher than about 10 feet, until you're very comfortable with controlling the drone. Too many new fliers have sent their drone skyward to see how high it could go. They almost always lose orientation and control from inexperience, and end up watching their drone disappear into the distance.

101 is right. You need a minimum of USB 2 to charge. Full charge takes around 4 hours. SD card . . it appears my version of it records directly to the smart phone that is attached to the controller. If you look at the controller, there is a grey bar on the front. That lifts up to enable a smart phone to be attached. Viewing via the attached smart phone doesn't prevent you piloting the quad from the controller. In fact, they recommend you use it until more experienced. ps For the auto take off to work, quad has to be on a flat, level surface for safety reasons.

If so, then yes, yours comes with sd card slot. But if instead it says it comes with "0.3MP Camera", then no, that is cheaper version with lower resolution camera and no crd slot.

This transmits FPV video to your phone or tablet using digital WiFi on 2.4 Ghz. The controller is also simultaneously transmitting analog control signals to the aircraft on 2.4 Ghz. Because both use 2.4 Ghz, they cause interference with each other, reducing the effective range of both. The max range of both FPV video and controlling the quadcopter is about 50 to 60 meters. This is true for all toy grade WiFi FPV fliers.

If you use the app on your phone it has altitude hold. I wish people would read the directions or look at the app before they go make these videos

altitude hold. But as mentioned in the video, altitude hold greatly reduces the maneuverability and "sportiness" of the quadcopter.

microSD memory card. Cheaper the better. Do not get 32GB or higher as it may not work with the quadcopter. 2, 4, 8, or 16GB will work fine.

I can't remember, but this model might not have spring release. Some are just friction hold (use your fingernail to pry it back out).

Also make sure that you are indeed inserting it into the card slot. Sometimes the card slot may be misaligned with the opening in the quadcopter's body, creating the possibility of sliding the card into the body of the quadcopter instead of the slot.

About 80 meters range. This is not a racing drone, nor acrobatic drone. It is mainly meant for new fliers as a learn to fly quadcopter, along with use as a aerial video quadcopter. It will not work with Fatshark or other 5.8Ghz FPV goggles as it uses WiFi for image transmission. However, it may work with cheap VR phone goggles.

First off, you need to download and install the XSW UFO app freely available on Google Play here goo.gl/r4fJdd and itunes here goo.gl/2m6Vyh. Next... 1. turn on your drone and place it on a flat and level surface. 2. Turn on your phone and open its WiFi settings. 3. Look for the drone's WiFi signal in the settings and connect to it (the same way that you would connect to home WiFi). 4. Open the XSW UFO app. The video should now be viewable and recordable through the app.
