Its Not sachin must embraced fot his mad fans, We should have embrace vishwanath for his success in intellect and chess. Hes should get Bharath ratna as hes more valuable than sachin. vishuw is one man team and it is his own sport success, Sachin success goes to his team not just him should have selected for that award.

Yep , and when you see it now you realize what a humongous task it was, given that now chess is so widespread in India and chess players get so much support and resources in India yet no one has even came close to what this guy is. Still India number one, still rocking. That just says what a god-like talented player he is. Once in a generational talent. The guy was born to play chess. I am just grateful to be born in his era. What he did paved the way for 60 gms India has today. Still we are far away from getting another Vishy Anand. That just shows the legend he is.

Not only for Indians: Anand is a legend for everyone. He's a very nice man and one of the greatest chess players of all time. Magnus is probably the GOAT, but this man has to be in the top 5 of greatest chess players of all time. Immensely strong, immensely durable: just a hell of a player. Magnus respects him a lot, Kasparov respects him a lot, everyone in the chess world does. Anand is just great.

I mean Vishy Anand is the greatest Indian chess player ever and one of the greatest chess players ever without even a slightest of doubt . But I believe he is one of the greatest sports men India has ever produced, in the league of Major Dhyan Chand, Sachin Tendulkar etc. I have always admired Vishy Anand as a kid and even without having any understanding of chess, I used to read about him in newspapers and would feel so happy when he used to win matches or world championships. However as I grew older and learnt more about chess, more about him I realized what an absolute legend this guy is. I mean this dude became the first grandmaster in a country where chess was thought of as a joke. That was a big feat in itself. But this is just the beginning. Then this guy went on to win the world championship five times literally coming from a country with zero chess background and paving the paths for himself. What he did in chess paved the path for where India is now with 60 gms and all . Now gms are funded in India they are trained properly and all. Still even after all this Vishy anand is still India number one at the age of 50. This shows the absolute legend and god like he is in the field of chess. Even with all the support and training no Indian chess GM has even come close to what Vishy is. Even after so many decades India still is in search of its next Vishy Anand.

What an illustrious career he had from what is known as the toughest sport of all time. One important thing is that in Chess the requirement for luck is very very minimal in order to shine. It requires hard focused mind with consistency over the years. That’s what makes him legend.

I am a few years older than Vishy and I loved chess when I was in my teens, growing up in India. My biggest challenge ? Finding people to play against. To understand the scale of Anand's achievement, you have to understand his environment and contrast that with the environment of his Russian/Soviet peers. Anand had only a fraction of the opportunities that Kasparov and Kramnik had but somehow he surpassed everyone of his peers except Kasparov.
