Anand's chess career was sandwiched between probably the 2 best players ever - Kaspaov and Carlsen. Even then, to his credit, he became the world champion 5 times that too in multiple formats and really dominated for a few years..

@@Cnut_the_grape i dont think so...Carlsen reached world no. 1 somewhere around 2008-2009 i reckon..and that was when Anand started winning world championships...although there was some controversy regarding Carlsen playing the Candidates around that time too but still..Anand really was superior to Carlsen in his glory days...it didnt last very long because obviously its Magnus...but still..Anand managed to win so many strong tournaments where he had to battle Kramnik, Topalov, Shirov , Gelfand , Short,Aronian..these were no easy opponents..those were world top 10 at that time...so he did really dominate for those few years. Anand is one of The Last Greatest Classic player who grew up without Chess Engines. Today's modern players remember moves from engines and copy paste in their games; Where as Anand create magic on the board.. Do you guys know that Anand was far ahead of his contemporaries in his native India. He surpassed the rest of the junior players in the country at a very early age and was already dominating the top adult players in his early teens. There was no one around that was strong enough to coach him. Nowadays, with computers and the internet, this is less important. But back in the 70s and 80s, that really made a difference. He was and even today so strong that he dominated the modern super Grandmasters who played as brilliant as the Engines with ease.. He is a super Grandmaster and former World Champion - he is Very very good at all aspects of chess. Generally he is Considered a strong tactical player but he’s so accurate that he plays positionally until his opponnets err.. He is modern version of Paul Murphy a super legend..

Modern players don't copy paste from engines. They gain experience from the moves played by engines and apply in the real games. I agree Anand is an extraordinary player, but you can't just criticize the advantage which the modern ones have.

I am his compatriot. May be Carlsen and Kasparov has proven to be tougher than him to beat, Anand can sit back and proudly say that no other player has more fan following than him, simply because he was born in a country of more than a billion people and has been an inspiration to many to follow his path. Dont forget that he is the first grandmaster of India and now the country has crossed 64, and this man had played a tremendous single handed role in that. What a great player and proud of you !!!

Anand’s games and moves are something else. He made chess interesting. They are just aesthetically different from other games or players. You see otherworldly. The best chess games occurred either in the 1500s or the early 2000s and late nineties. Today’s people are such tryhards and grind on d4 openings and heavy theory to get wins

Why did opponent resign at 11:16 position? What’s the next few moves or plans for white
@flytoheights1
@flytoheights1 4 жыл бұрын
Everything is winning. The black king doesn't have good protection. White has the threats of Qh8#, gxf8=Q, fork on Nxe6. It is overwhelming. One line could be if black plays 1. ... Kxg7 to avoid the threats of Qh8# and gxf8=Q. White plays 2. Nxe6 forking the king and the rooks. Then 2. ... Kg8 3. Nxd8 winning a rook. Rxf1 4. Qxf1 (Not Rdxf1 b/c leaves N on d8 unprotected). Still, bad position for black because black king not safe and down in material. Another line could be if black plays 1. ... Rxf1 to avoid the threat of Qh8#, gxf8=Q, and fork on Nxe6. Then white will play 2. Qh8+ Kf7 3. Rxf1+ Ke7 4. Qh4+ g5 (Optional to play g5 to move the queen away from the knight protection). 5. Qxg5+ Kd6. Now the star move 6. Rf8 to block the g8 square from black rook and threatens to queen next move also black rook on d8 is hanging. Black is without a move here. 6. ... Rxf8 only helps white to queen 7. gxf8=Q. Black can't even at least capture the knight 6. ... Qxd4 because of the skewer 7. Rxd8+ winning the queen. Material is even after 6. Rf8, however too many threats and the black king is still in a bad position.

Also, in the first line after 3. Nxd8 Black can't capture the knight back Rxd8 because of a forced mate will follow shortly. so Rxf1.
