Vital Eyes - Winterton Coastwatch - Seals & other visitors

Extract from a documentary profiling the role of Winterton Coastwatch on England's Norfolk coast and a tribute to chief watchkeeper Alan McMurchie who passed away in 2016.
Winterton-On-Sea is a unique stretch of coast. Apart from a beautiful wide stretch of beach, there is a seal colony just to the north at Horsey and a broad expanse of dunes and heathland, a Site of Scientific Special Interest (SSI) with its rare flora and fauna.
With the obvious natural beauty of the area, secure cliff-top car parking, a popular seaside cafe and the resort of Hemsby just a mile to the south and seal pups to the north, walkers and dog walkers are drawn in the droves around the Christmas holidays making this one of Winterton's busiest times of the year.
