This is the reason I've never listened to an entire Eric Weinstein conversation. YOU MUST SAY YOUR THING THEN LET YOUR PARTNER RUN WITH IT. Don't clarify (you rarely clarify anything when you do), and don't interrupt with vague masturbatory tangents when they're on the cusp of enlightening your audience with their knowledge. Listening to you is like listening to a kid tell you about their dream, only occasionally more profound. Buterin picked up on this quickly and started pushing back and also precluding your interruptions by being more authoritative rather than conversational, but he's a genius in a deep field of specialization who can back it up. Most of the time it's just cringe inducing.

I have a theory. The advent of blockchain technology(especially a decentralized one) poses a great threat to major stakeholders in a centralized economic system. This technology has the potential to put more power in the hands of the people because of it's decentralized nature. Therefore, people become self sufficient and rely less on their government to make major financial decisions for them. The guys at the top do not like to be kicked in the nutts. They know people want to take back power so they use negative advertising to make you think you will have a negative experience with blockchain, particularly with ethereum. What Vitalik and his team are doing is trying to build a system that is so transparent that corruption can't even whipe it's arse without us knowing. We should all get on board. For the sake of all generations to come. This tech could help us build a bright future. That is my theory at least.

There are methods of hiding your transactions that are similar to money laundering in the crypto space. Cash will likely never go fully away due to crypto. It is central banks and government interests who want to see a decline in physical cash. You can also trade crypto keys physically as well, so in some ways cash will always exist due to crypto.

You are right about one thing, for example, you can't use the old calculator to browse the internet, the same way you can't use BTC to tell whether something happened in the real-world or not. However, that does not mean that you can't apply the system's approach to make it work.

And what he has achieved is well beyond anything you will ever do. Congress does not create our money, by the way. The Federal Reserve does. Its written literally on every United States dollar.
