Imo they should allow both to exist via attributes. If you have merciful, you get old vitality, if you have ruthless, you get new vitality. This way how it functions is based off your character, as it doesnt make much sense for a kind and merciful character to be sapping peoples life force like a leech.

i think u would have to change how u get ruthless/merciful then, cause rn its just a random choice u make after fighting elius, and it doesnt really tell u that ur choice is that important

@@Inferno88 it could add a disclaimer during the decision like "WARNING, IF YOU KILL ELIUS YOU WILL LOSE THE EXTRA HP AND GET LIFESTEAL INSTEAD"

@@flarethefox9836 1. How? Even if I'm missing something. The way it works in the lore is based on how it works in the game, not the other way around. How it works in the lore would still have to change if the suggestion went fully through And 2. Vitality hurt new players due to how incomplete it is, not the idea itself.

@@cyrusmann5443 1. The way you worded it was a bit confusing but I think I got it. Yeah no, it just makes no sense in how creation made spirit energy work. Spirit energy (though is present in magic circles) taps into spirit weapons, and that’s it. It does apparently provide some shielding to the player too, which is why I believe it should rework into making a 2nd health bar, not increasing max HP. 2. It harmed players because (if you don’t know) vitality doesn’t reset on awakening. It also made players believe they needed vitality. It should really be renamed to spirit instead, considering lore and just how the game works. Also, your change would still harm new players because now they already don’t have enough resources to how stat builds work, so essentially adding another is not helpful

People keep saying old vitality is more unique, but frankly I think old vitality is useless The more you invest in vitality the more damage you take from using spirit attacks. this is counter productive to it giving you health. But In imbument this carries over, and it doesn't let you do more damage, it just lets you do as much damage as you would if you never invested in vitality. Thus vitality has only had a negative impact when used with other damage types unless you literally don't use it and just take the extra health. And defense and drawback both do this way better. Conversely, being able to heal yourself adds synergy with other damage types. Being unique doesn't matter if it's terrible.

A bit late but Warden (it sounds cooler than Oracle imo) is truly the potential build of this game. I have optimism in Vetex, as the other builds seem to work out well. I'm not good with numbers but they specifically want to lower the imbuement damage to 0.95x instead of 1.0x so isn't that a nerf? Another point: Let's say you invested 112 vitality, since I think that's the minimum of a hybrid build as of level 140, that's 448 health. 448 is actually quite significant when you think about it, and it allows you to take an extra hit (which, yes, defense can do, but you're wasting other stat points by doing so, unless you use Painite which sucks.) That 112 vitality also gives the ability to regenerate quicker and made vitality armor viable (regen is a wild card, you're better stacking defense and it together.) Now it seems like I'm just regurgitating and altering your point to make it seem current vitality is good, and I suppose I am, but this update didn't make it good, it made it decent. And that decent quality can be fixed by itself, and not a complete revamp. Even so, I could never personally agree with this revamp if it goes through. I would still take something different to a mage copycat than the latter but with the recovery stat (you're better off eating a fish based meal lol.) One final point is that the difference between Vitality imbue/itself and drawback is monumental and that regeneration that vitality boosts makes it a non-factor unless you mindlessly spam. Drawback, even on low levels like 2, are extremely noticeable. Vetex even stated this when doing the mistral update in the logs I believe, that vitality is nowhere near drawback, even on a hypothetical warden build (even excluding the regeneration boost and insane 1.12k health from being a warden, you're fine.) All in all, sorry for making you read this wall of text, if you do, but here's my two cents.

OH AND THE DAMAGE REDUCTiON. Yeah it's not that bad, it's still bearable even without imbue, so you could always strategically choose what to imbue if you're that pedantic

I won't lie, this ain't it chief. The health drain is barely noticeable unless you spam, and is used to regulate. This doesn't decrease survivability nor force you to play passive, not even drawback does - unless you decided to use painite in all your gem slots for some reason. Plus, this literally hinders vitality even more, as the revitalizing status won't do shit 99% of the time if your opponent can aim. The stacking won't do much either. That and, as people say, it's just a worse mage if you do this. No customization, less variety, just overall a worse magic build Also this makes regeneration builds redundant if this happens.

Unique? Yeah, but it wouldn’t work long term, it would end up with oracles at the end of the game being nigh immortal with their basically infinite health and not bad damage potential.

I don’t see what was wrong with vitality using your health as energy, because ‘for parity’ doesn’t really make sense as you’re using health instead of energy. Also, the revitalising effect feels too situational, not only in PvP, but in PvE as well. If they want to balance future bosses, mini-bosses and enemies, then there’s going to be a lot of work to balance them to the niche way in which revitalising works, with them more forcing on chip damage like Carina instead of few and fairly far between bursts of damage like Calvus or Elius. In PvP, it only works in situations where you are fighting DoT based builds opposed to to large-damage-in-short-bursts type builds. Finally, the fact it doesn’t refresh seems counter-intuitive to me, because I focus more on DoT and high damage (as a knight), I don’t see how 4 seconds is reasonable enough to stack. I also don’t see a way in which DoT will work with this, as it doesn’t mention if it’s total damage or impact damage. I don’t think vitality needs this rework, it sounds excessive, and if vitality is getting this rework, then we need more spirit weapons fast, with more skills to keep its uniqueness and versatility feeling different to magic.
