Pure joy. Ravel was a genius.
@Baummann15 жыл бұрын
Don't allow genius to be confused with rarity. But, if you do indeed consider him a genius then you must allow for the majority of composers whose works are even archived to be labelled likewise.
@djmotise4 жыл бұрын
@@Baummann1 STFU. Ravel was a great genius. What the fuck are you talking about?, Such nonsense. Idiotic comment. Everyone knows he was a great genius composer.
@clearlyanartistanimations69154 жыл бұрын
@@Baummann1 Dumb logic. If you consider 'majority of composers whose works are even archived' to be on equal footing with ravel then you really need to reassess your views. That is just plainly wrong to suggest something like that.
@Baummann14 жыл бұрын
darren motise I don’t think you understand the point my child. If we are referring to the regular 160+ IQ genius then by no means was he unique and there were many composers with such intelligence, but if we use the term genius to refer to a genius when compared to other pre-modern composers then he was not close to the level of German and Russian composers (possibly Chopin and Liszt too) and the term should not be used lightly. If one of the strongest adjectives we use to describe Beethoven, Mozart and Bach is genius, then surely we must use the term ever more seldom to make sure that stamp of genius is only given when a composer’s music equals the best. As lovely as Ravel’s music is, it is relatively simple and uncomplicated by true ‘genius’ composer’s standards such as those already listed.
@clearlyanartistanimations69154 жыл бұрын
@@Baummann1 What is the standard? If you can tell. The complexity of Ravel's music is that of a genius and I am not only talking about piano solo pieces. I think you need to educate yourself on his work more. Calling his work simple is a laughable underestimation.

The pedal is giving so much more additional sounds to the instrument, it is not just binary (on or off), it’s everything in between! Yvonne Lefébure should be proud!

This is insane! This whole piece and especially 4:56 to the end has such a unique sound! I can't believe I haven't heard this piece until just now, but it just makes me love Ravel more.
@dextertay461 Жыл бұрын
Ravel rarely disappoints. He was so fastidious with his work that nothing's ever casually misplaced. Every mood (and its shifting) is so clearly nuanced. I've not known any other composer with his nuance. Chopin may be the only exception.

Vitaly Pisarenko has the most spirited interpretation of this andalucian music which I have ever had the pleasure to hear. Russia still produces the best pianists anywhere today. An absolute brilliant communication. Lauds to Lang Lang as well when playing Spanish music which he does marvelously. All Spanish music is very difficult to capture in spirit as it is in constant change and evolution with all extemporanous surprises everywhere.

I've been learning this piece and the most insane thing to me is the one hand playing the same note quickly and staccato. Like the G# near the beginning. I love the beginning a lot. It's very beautiful and could be romantic if there wasn't quite so much of those tense chords
@SD-vb7kc5 жыл бұрын
How hard is it?
@faktablad2 жыл бұрын
@@SD-vb7kc in order to do it you have to use multiple fingers such as 3-2-1 (middle, index, thumb) in quick succession on the same key. Not only is it difficult to hit the same spot with the same velocity every time, if you press the key down for a split second too long, the key won't have time to fully lift back up before you have to press it down again, resulting in a dropped note. It's a truly impressive thing when it's played well

@tomtriffid6 жыл бұрын
The quick repeated notes have to be played with different fingers of the same hand.
@stynway595 жыл бұрын
Find the pattern that works best for you, but keep in mind that the piano's action has to be right. Never attempt this on an unmaintained, or poorly-built instrument. I settled on 4-3-2 at the beginning, switching to 1--3-2 when the melody starts to move again, so I had fingers free to play the melody points. But that's me, and my hands. It ain't a cakewalk, but so satisfying!

The recipe for that: make sure your shoulders, elbow and wrists are relaxed. Arm is hanging (!) from the shoulder. The wirsts are floating like it would be under water. Use a logical fingering, sloooowly articulating the fingers from the knuckle joint (without forcing!). Results won't come overnight. Try doing this in chunks- 10 minutes/unity, then resting a little bit, for a week. Feel at ease with each note. Hope it helps!
