I am a physician in Alabama with a history of vagal paroxysmal atrial fibrillation for 18 years. I started magnesium glycinate, six months ago, and it has greatly reduced my episodes. After adding vitamin C, I am essentially cured. I am no longer sensitive to many of the known factors that would sit off an episode. Thank you so much for your continued interest and research on these topics.

Sudden changes in position, sleeping on left side, esophageal irritation (eating too late, eating too much), alcohol--even half a beer or half glass of wine, were some of my triggers. I recommend "pill in a pocket" to end episodes.

I use 750/mag glycinate and 500/vit C. I also take 100 mg of flecainide and 12.5 of metoprolol an hour before bedtime since my episodes typically start just as I am falling asleep. They are much less frequent now with the supplements.

My personal observation is, if you educate patients it will always result in better treatment because patients can explain better about their symptoms and take better care of themselves and it makes doctors' life a bit easier. One very common example can be most of the patient doesn't even understand the difference between chest pain related to the heart issue and confuse it with gas or acidity related pains.. so doctors need to go through a series of tests and find out the actual problem.. sometimes people get traumatized with very simple health issue whereas some times they just ignore very serious issue and end up in ER at the eleventh hour. Doctors should reduce the gap between patients and them. The way you explain things and communicates is definitely praiseworthy that many doctors do not do. Respect and best wishes to you. If I can help you in any way with your noble journey, please let me know.

LOL, good luck with that. I'm thrilled you're so open minded, but my experience with Dr's, nurses and others is they will simply hear "Vitamin" and reject it. Especially nurses. I had an argument with one nurse who claimed Vit D did nothing as far as preventing the Flu. . .I asked her "have you read the studies?" Her response was to ignore this and say, "well, Im a nurse, so. . ." as if that ended the conversation, lol.

I developed AFIB after taking the J&J Covid vaccine. It got so bad I had a heart ablation 4 months ago. It seemed to work, but the fib returned a few weeks ago, and much worse. My cardiologist suggested another heart ablation - so I scheduled it and had another two days ago. Three days prior to the 2nd heart ablation, I started taking vitamin C and the AFIB subsided completely. I thought about cancelling the second ablation, but the idea of it coming back again was frightening. Today I see this video and I am convinced that I was vitamin C deficient. I am going to stock up on vitamin C and magnesium and use them as my first defense going forward.

I had a chronic arrhythmia. A few years back I started taking a daily dose of Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin B6, Taurine and have not had a problem with it since. All three of these nutrients work to restore normal heart rhythm. I also now take a daily 1,000 mg. Vitamin C for the past year. I used to get irregular heartbeats many times per day. Now, it seems I am cured of that scary problem. I also used to get anxiety, maybe due to the irregular beats. The anxiety and panic attacks have disappeared as well.

Protocol driven medicine of late is funded by huge investors/big pharma and disguised as “evidence” based medicine and has become “check box “ medicine . Studies now can be designed to “ fail” certain inexpensive treatments or procedures or out of the box ideas but people say they work so who do we believe? Hey Doc, I was recently diagnosed with AF. Blood pressure very good and my ultrasounds were very good also. I noticed it was increasing in frequency so I started on 1000mg of Vitamin C per day. According to my iWatch Ultra my Afib has reduced by 50%. I feel like it has reduced even more that that. All anecdotal I know, but that is my story so far. Regards and thanks for all your work here.

I went to my Cardiologist Tuesday and he said I was in AFib. I didn't know it, didn't feel anything. I felt good. My BP was 116 over 70 so he was happy about that and told me to keep doing what I was doing, and go for more bloodwork!! Your videos are so helpful when you discover you have these problems. I had serious AF and PVC's (Premature ventricular contractions) and two cardiologists and my family doctor strongly encouraged "heart ablation surgery". I declined. I started experimenting with time-restricted-eating (TRE), intermittent fasting and multi-day fasting. Within the first month a frostbite sore/scab that I had for 15 years (not a typo) healed beautifully. In the 8th month I got my CRP retested. It had been "off the charts" - a score of 12 where optimum is less than 1 and "normal" is 1 to 3. After 8 months of daily fasting (my eating window was usually 4 to 6 hours), my CRP was 0.01 - the lab was giddy with excitement and told me they had NEVER seen such a low score. At 70 years of age I am back to what I've done all my life - running, golfing, swimming, camping and biking - to name a few. BUT here's the #1 thing to know and it's the first thing to try: DO NOT EAT AFTER SUNDOWN!!!!! NEVER EVER. Why? Because "eating even nutritious foods (after sundown) promotes serious inflammation" (Dr. Satchin Panda - researcher). I told a stranger that I met at a sports event about this #1 rule. I knew nothing about him. A month later, at another event he recognized me and came up to tell me that he had changed one thing in his life (a long-time insulin taking diabetic). He stopped eating after sundown. He reported that his AM glucose test was 78 - a number, he said, that he had not seen in a LONG time. He felt he might have a very different life in his old age (72+) than what he had been braced for. He also felt he would be soon reducing and then eliminating the drugs he was taking.

I take magnesium, but had not heard of the possible benefits for Afib from vitamin C. It makes sense though. I stay away from sulfites, nitrites, sugar, etc. Also have histamine sensitivity and take a histamine blocker before eating. I learn so much and find great comfort from watching your videos. I strive to avoid those protocol methods and take care of my body naturally. I am 70, have had paroxsymal Afib for 15 years, and otherwise extremely healthy.. Dear Sanjay, I had quadruple bypass surgery at flinders university hospital in 2014, I was not happy with the medication that they insisted I take for the rest of my life so I stopped taking them, I only take eliquis blood thinner and magnesium at present. At my last visit to my cardiologist I queried as to wether there is any connection with the stomach and the heart as over time I had observed myself increased AF after a meal , he almost ridiculed me for even suggesting the idea stating that "that there is absolutely no connection what so ever. Despite his high status at flinders I decided not to use him again because I felt my self diagnosis was right ; so it was with great joy to see recently your comments on this very issue which fitted my experience exactly as have many of your very informative presentations of which I have say here I am most greatfull for your amazing dedication and humanitarianism, thank you. Now with this latest presentation on the use of vitamin c,this so fits in with the little research I have done on my chronic AF I am going to commence vit c as soon as my order arrives and in due course I will let you know how I get on with it. Kind regards from South Australia, Robert Oldfield

@@Kexpressions12 No I haven’t had to take Anticoagulants yet, I’m not yet 65 and my cumulative risk score is low enough that my doctor says I don’t need them. I’m not sure what I’ll do when I turn 65 in a few years. We’ll see what the doctor says. I’m primarily concerned with getting my Afib under control. The vitamin C doses work very well, however if I stray from my control food intake, or if I have a lot of stress, or if I don’t get enough sleep, I seem to be more susceptible to incidents. I started doing megadoses of 20 g of magnesium, along with the vitamin C, and the vitamin D, and K2. I just started the extra magnesium on Tuesday after watching the DR’s KZbin video, I’m actually feeling pretty good and my heart seems to be better than normal. Planning on the mega magnesium for a total of 30 days and then dropping down to about 300 mg a day. We’ll see how that goes.

@@jab5444 thank you for your quick response. Yes I'm finding there are a lot of things we can do to lesson stress on our hearts which a lot of doctors won't spend time addressing. He basically brushed me off about any ideas I read about and only offered the anticoag or nothing....quite disgusting actually. Glad you are having good results so far with what you are doing. I am 65 with controlled high BP....and w/some extra weight that needs to come off. I've been looking for natural alternatives to the anti coag., so I have to come up with an even more aggressive plan incorporating all I'm learning, adding to what I've been doing already. The commentary so reflected my experience of AF. Two episodes within a short space of time about two and a half years ago resulted in me taking beta blockers and blood thinners. Since then I have focussed even more on my diet and aim for a low GL intake, have introduced regular 30 minutes daily exercise to raise my pulse rate and also walk every day for c. 1 hour. I ensure that I get enough sleep and try to avoid stress and have been supplementing with vitamns C and D, although this latter has been to improve my immune system, but I'm heartened to hear that I have inadvertently stumbled on a natural aid to improve my condition. And the good news is that I have not had another episode. I have also recently started using Epsom salts in a weekly bath and that has improved noticeably my focus and energy levels and I understand now is also a natural assistant to improving AF. I would also like to add my thanks for all the information on this subject that has been made available through your videos.

I'm 57 and have a history of SVT and possible mitral valve prolapse (one dr. said "yes" another dr. said "no"). At any rate, in the last three years I've started to have a few episodes of AFib (msybe 8 in the last 3 yrs). Typically I will have a-fib when I have the flu. Twice in the last 3 years when I knew I had the flu because I tested pos for flu, I had a-fib for a few hours and within a couple of weeks after that I experienced a secondary short-lived episode of afib. The initial occurrence during the flu seems to trigger subsequent shorter-duration episodes within a few days to a few weeks. I take a lot of vitamin C everyday... Anywhere from 8 to 10 grams per day and I've been doing that for so long it's hard to say for sure whether the vitamin C prevents what would have been additional episodes of a-fib. That said I do have a feeling vit-C does generally tend to reduce bumping, thumping incl a-fib. I just feel more "solid" and stable in my chest when I take a good dose of vitamin C . . .

Interesting when I watch videos done by hospitals and health authorities, they only focus on how to fix the numbers or treat symptoms, there isn't a single word or thought about the reason why it develops or why we are seeing more and more people getting this. That is why your channel is so much more interesting. Thanks so much for posting these videos.

Have done 2 grams of Vit. C since dozens of years ago. On top of all the other benefits of C I'm glad to hear about AFIB that I never knew about. Thanks Dr. Gupta!

What a brilliant video! Dr Sanjay Gupta, your perspective away from protocol driven medicine was music to my ears! You are most assuredly giving a voice to patients again. I have ad one episode of AF for one and a half days and my cardiologist has put me on apixaban 5mg 2x daily. I will certainly be discussing alternatives with them next time we meet.

Afib and indeed Aflutter (AFL) has been identified as THE LEADING risk factor in developing severe Covid19. I had an Aflutter more than 4 years ago but have since lost weight, started rigorous exercise and laid off carbs and sugar. I will be sure to add Vitamin C to my daily supplementation. Thanks Dr. Gupta.

A truly wonderful video offering excellent advice for AFib patients who are looking for alternative treatment options with minimal associated risks. Thank you for sharing the specific research data that supports a reasonably good assessment of the potential benefit of trying vitamin C.

This is something I found out about just a week ago so I am trying it out, I take 500mg every four hours except for sleeping, then I will take it if I wake to use the restroom then resume in the A.M. no side effects of any kind as yet, but I do seem to have more energy and feel better. Thank you for all you positive and logical information, and my best wishes for your father and family.
