The most important statements and slides in this very important presentation by Cedric F. Garland, PhD, are as follows: 16:04 (Smoked) maté tea seems to be carcenogenic 16:41 Maté tea: smoked and unsmoked variants 32:51 cells that are not in direct contact with their neighbours will go into a mode of reproducing ‼️‼️ 33:27 they require Calcium to stick together, ..., and if you take the Calcium down really low they will also disconnect 33:38 if you reduce either Vitamin D or Calcium you get the same thing: the cells don't stick together, they loose their polarity and rather than cooperating they compete ‼️‼️ 34:27 slide "Micro-Darwinian carcenogenesis and the DINOMIT model" ‼️ 34:50 slide "DINOMIT Theory of Cancer" ‼️‼️ 35:23 slide "Vitamine D intake per day": aim at 8000 I.U. per day‼️ 36:40 slide "Future Research"‼️ 39:12 slide "Estimated Proportions of Cancers preventable by Serum 25(OH)D ‼️ 40:07 slide "Vitamin D deficient mouse vs. normal Vitamin D mouse"‼️ 40:49 slides "Vitamin D in Dogs Study"‼️ 42:34 slides "Human Photoprotective Response" 43:13 an interesting remark from one spectator‼️

Excellent Video on Cancer Prevention and (at the end) some wrinkle prevention and loss of Hair in Dogs. Low Sunlight Levels in Winter, so quite timely.

Good speaker....but I can't help but be distracted by wondering what he does to assure his own health and longevity.

He gets sufficient vitamin D from the sun in San Diego 😁

What about HER2+ breast cancer? I can't find any life style related data about HER2+ cancer.

What makes us think that Vitamin-D is the only essential nutrient synthesized by UV exposure?
@michalchik10 жыл бұрын
***** What sort of experiment could prove that vitamin D was the only photosynthesized substance of value? Basically, though this lecture is interesting, he is just using correlation, not experiment to show the vitamin D levels are inversely related to cancer. But since vitamin D is also correlated to sunshine exposure he may well be detecting another effect of sunshine or even a health coeffect. The vitamine D knockout mice do show that severe vit-D loss in mice is a cancer risk, but hat does not mean that the higher level of D he sees correlate to lower cancer risk works as a preventative.

***** Hypothetically yes, but I am not sure what you think that proves. What I am pointing out is the tacit assumption that seems to be at the heart of this lecture is that because UV does these things, the effect must be mediated through vitamin D. That seems to me like saying that since bacterial infections routinely cause fever, fever must be the mechanism by which bacteria cause their damage. This is important because we need to know whether cancer prevention requires sun exposure or if vitamin D supplements might do as well.

***** Rewatch the video keeping my question in mind.

I didn't say he did, but that is the point. We don't what to do without testing the hypothesis that this is a vitamin D effect. He does encourage more vitamin D as the solution to lower cancer rates. If he's right then oral supplements should be the easiest way to get it, without the risks of skin cancer, sun burn, photo aging, and inconvenience of spending enough time outside. If he is people will get false sense of security and an important scientific clue will prematurely marginalized.

This is worth watching. Never knew how prevalent cancer was in the US compared to other countries. ***** and/or Rhonda Patrick of FoundMyFitness could have an interesting discussion with Cedric Garland.

What a funny seeing physicians delivering such as important informations to live healthier but, they have a body that shows any concern about conducting a healthy life.

I'm guessing that although he maybe overweight, he doesn't have cancer. This video is about reducing cancer with sunlight and vitamin D. It's not about how big someone is! Maybe you missed that point.
