Thanks! I have the same issue on our 2009 and it is driving me bonkers trying to find where the water was coming from. Your video is great help narrowing it down.

So i need to remove the dash to change the gasket? I did everything else but mine still leaks
@TheGibby33403 ай бұрын
As per the workshop manual I believe so. Coating the gasket area in sealant might be more practical. Thx for watching. 🍻

I tried to coat around the gasket area but cant reach the left side, it still leaks a lot

Hi, what about removing the resistor and flushing out the blockage with a hose or some warm water with a detergent solution of some kind?
@TheGibby334022 күн бұрын
You may need to resort to this approach. Simultaneously snake the drain as you do so with something that won’t damage the coil or temp sensor mounted to it. 👍🍀

Hey..wow.. what about if the water is on the left back passenger side??
@TheGibby33404 ай бұрын
Some Grand Vitara (XL7) models were equipped with dual zone A/C. A second evaporator coil was mounted at the rear quarter panel. Water ingress into the cabin might be possible if the condensate catch pan drain is blocked. But I’m not certain of this in your case. Thx for watching 🍻

Great video, So we are talking Passenger side up behind dashboard next to inner wing. The drain is directly below that near the sub frame. Thanks as i wasn't quite sure were you are.

Without removing anything more then pulling back carpet, you can use roof silicone and silicone the living crap out of it. It lasts for approximately 2 years but better then taking apart half the car

Hi, so let me get this straight, if i remove the resistor and spray it with a cleaner like oxy-clean etc it should clear out the blockage?
@TheGibby334022 күн бұрын
It will depend on the nature of the restriction. Mold or mildew can form on the evaporator and be washed toward the drain as condensation flows off the coil. This type of issue can be remedied with the application of a product capable of breaking down the growth. If your clog consists of leaves, dirt & dust (usually captured in the cabin air filter) this approach is less likely to resolve the drainage problem. Thx for watching. 👍🍻
@ridgeforresterda3rd22 күн бұрын
@TheGibby3340 ok. Thank you
@javatar19003 жыл бұрын
ok. so just spraying in the cleaner "melted" the clog? That was enough? Did you "snake" the tube with the zip tie?
@TheGibby33403 жыл бұрын
To my surprise the cleaning product was more effective than the “snake”. I think the drain pan can become obstructed with dust, dirt & mildew. After a couple of applications the drain ran freely.

The 2 clips remain with the panel. Pull down on the aft edge and slightly rearward to disengage the 2 forward locating plastic pins. Thx for watching 👍

It doesn’t worked for me, now the air conditioner compressor is not working, probably a sensor or relay was damaged during the process
@TheGibby3340 Жыл бұрын
Highly unlikely. More likely is clutch operation inhibit due to low refrigerant pressure or circuit issue with the clutch coil itself.
@tortugononononas Жыл бұрын
The compressor is working but the ac blower is not, I’ve used a multimeter to measure the blower harness voltage and I’m getting 12 to 13v. Any idea what it could be?. (Blower was working before to apply the spray cleaner).
@TheGibby3340 Жыл бұрын
Did you remove the blower module as the video demonstrates? Did you operate the blower without reinstalling the blower module?

I can't seem to find the drain line. I've looked on both the driver side and passenger side.

Ryan Sims You will find it pretty much on the centre line of the vehicle. At the top of the arch of the gearbox tunnel of the floor structure...It’s a wee bit tricky.

Other versions of the Grand Vitara don't have a drain line but just a little nub way up in the middle of the car... see this video to see if this is the version of car you have: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omm3fqODZdKDfsU

I have the same problem in my car, is it necessary to remove the board to fix the problem?
@TheGibby33405 жыл бұрын
Hi Jorge, the first thing you have to do is make sure the drain line is clear so the water will drain outside. If the foam gasket is still leaking, replacement of that gasket does indeed involve major disassembly/removal of the dashboard. A coating of silicone sealer around the outside surface of the foam gasket might be a simplier solution if the issue is the gasket itself. Hope this helps. Ian
