The gasket is a small flat gasket between the stainless-steel flex gas line and the gas valve inlet. It is an inexpensive part sold 5 in a package from your Viessmann parts distributor, part number 7826217 in Canada and the USA. This fitting is located inside the cabinet in the combustion air stream and Viessmann wants to ensure that a damaged gasket will not cause fuel to leak into the combustion air stream. If you do not have a gasket handy and need to service the burner, requiring this connection to be opened, in a pinch, you need to use an approved method of checking for gas leaks before leaving the boiler. Viessmann recommends that if you are servicing Vitodens 100, Vitodens 200 or Vitocrossal 300 CU3A boilers that you have these gaskets handy ahead of time.

When you flush the debris with water towards the end where does the water and debris go? This part is not clear to me.

What happens to the water you pour in to flush the cleaner?
@PatrickOBrien-xt4lm Жыл бұрын
The water will flow down to the condensate trap built into the boiler. When doing the boiler cleaning you should route the water from the outlet of the boiler (condensate trap) to a drain bypassing a condensate neutralizer if one is installed

fuel connection gasket? All the Viessmann Manuals I have read say that the fuel gasket should be replaced, so which is it? they are expensive here and can take up to 2 weeks to order, so reuse or replace makes a big difference.

Can u advise why....some condense traps get discoloured with rust and others don’t....have come across 1 yrs old ones that are fairly orange in colour and yet some older ones remain clear What’s rusting .? Thanks
@marknorris97224 жыл бұрын
The colour of the water or staining in the condensate trap is often related to contamination in the combustion air from outside. Dirt and debris from the combustion air source will often carry through to the condensate trap in the flue gas condensate.

How bout hot water heat exchanger? Cleaning ,maintenance?
@marknorris97225 жыл бұрын
BugZ If the boiler loop is properly treated and the DHW loop is soft and free of debri contamination, cleaning is not normally required. However, we know there are lots of systems out there that are not installed in ideal situations where the potable water is hard etc. You can, if required, connect a hose and pump to a container with about 5 gallons of either vinegar or citric acid to the DHW side of the HX and flush the HX to remove hard water scale etc. Make sure whatever you use as a cleaning agent is potable safe rated. It is not normally required to remove the HX but you can find information in the service manual how to remove and reinstall the DHW HX if necessary. I would recommend having the O-rings for the HX handy in case the installed ones get damaged during removal.

@@marknorris9722 Mark Norris, managed to take out out the old extremely clogged tap hot water HX, also took out old O rings, they are still in good shape but I replaced them anyway and saved them for later. Took out the HX through the back side from below between the pipes, no space to take it out from the frontal side. Having trouble cleaning the old HX, I put the dilluted vinegar, dont want to damage the HX, as it will be used next time after next replacement, also trying to use dilluted home heavy chemical like for toilet bowl water in fear of not damagin the metal only for a few minutes at a time then a lot of rinsing, am not exactly a chemist so I am cautious. What does experience say of cleaning the HX with ultrasonic cleaner tub? I see no reason why it should not work! Also the water flow sensor was an issue, it was covered with dirt (soot like), be carefull to clean away from the sensing holes, inside the sensor hole (from 1.5mm to 2mm diameter) there is mirror like metal, just clean slighly, with no power, use a tooth pick with no force, use the pick's gravity, you can use some small force to clean the walls of the hole, if the sensor is destroyed there is no hot water on the tap! And the sensor costs from 37euros to over 120euros depending on the stealers. There is ridiculously huge difference with new clean hot water HX, water flow, like liters per minute, and very good heating of the water. Another EXTREMELY IMPORTANT thing!!! When I took out the HX , there was some small amount of water, and the water went down the pipes, some water went down the gas pipe, and there were bubbles on the connections (nobody touched the pipes or connections, nobody gets near the boiler), you can imagine reaction on my face and on my eyes, DO NOT WAIT, LIKE IMMEDIATELLY MAKE SURE THAT THE SPACE IS VENTILATED AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY ELECTRICAL SPARKING IS DOWN TO MINIMUM, TAKE TWO ADJUSTABLE SPANNERS AND TIGHTEN THE CONNECTION, then test with soapy bubbly water and then call whoever it is neccessary to call! From time to time all conections to be inspected!!!

How often do you service? Ive the older one. Vitodens100
@marknorris97225 жыл бұрын
This is an excerpt from the Viessmann Service manuals, "Advice to owner Once the installation work is complete, the heating contractor must familiarize the system operator/ ultimate owner with all equipment, as well as safety precautions/requirements, shutdown procedure, and the need for professional service annually before the heating season begins." This is consistent throughout Viessmann boiler documentation.

Should the main door seal be replaced every time its striped down and how often does it need a major strip down if the co2 is ok.how does the condence trap come out thanks
@marknorris97225 жыл бұрын
The door seal is a soft flexible gasket that should not need to be replaced every time the boiler is serviced. If during service the inspection finds the gasket damaged, it can be replaced. When the cover is correctly installed, a good gasket should not allow air through the door when the burner fan is running. The current North American model gasket part number is 7836227. To remove the condensate trap simply disconnect the hose coming from the heat exchanger and pull up on the trap. It is seated in a socket inside the boiler at the rear left if the cabinet. Reinstall the trap in the same way, making sure the hose from the heat exchanger is installed correctly without pinching the inner or outer seal. It is easier to remove the trap when the burner is out for maintenance. Viessmann, in our manuals, recommends annual maintenance inspections on the burner and heat exchanger.

@@marknorris9722 thanks sounds like you have to do a fair bit each year would probably have to charge more for a service on these boilers but i dont suppose it takes to long once you have done a couple
@marknorris97225 жыл бұрын
@@charliewillis8527 Charlie, You can literally remove all the internal components, including the HX, not that that's a normal service thing, in about 15 minutes. All the wiring is plug and play with unique connectors so you can't put it together wrong. Normal service is pretty much what they show in the video. If you have some allen keys, TORX and Hex bit drivers and an adjustable wrench you can do the work easily. Chemical cleaning is not normally required unless it has been neglected and not serviced or the fuel or combustion air quality is poor. Most technicians tell me they are in and out of this boiler in an hour or two if it is maintained. Viessmann does have a Vitodens tool kit that is shown in the video, part number, 9537070 and a cleaning tool also being used, part number 7840112, but neither of these are essential to servicing the boiler, they just makes it easier because you have all the tool tips required and a tool designed to clean the spaces between the coils.
