At :49 I start opposite the valve stem and finish at the stem. This allows the tire bead to fall further into the rim without being hindered by the tubeless stem and finish seating is easier and I find most will mount w/o using a lever or very little effort if a lever is needed.

2.6 tyre so large air liner, just cant seat the tyre, does the liner have to be tight to the rim or can it have some wiggle room ? cant sit the tyre into the centre of the rim to allow the bead to break over the bead seat on the rim.
@littlegoobie6 жыл бұрын
looks like an interesting product but i have my doubts this would work on a mountain bike or fat bike since those tires are so loose on the rim once the air pressure is gone. I'd like to have seen you ride at the end without inflating.

@littlegoobie6 жыл бұрын
all that just for pinch flats? might as well go tubeless then.
@tedclev6 жыл бұрын
It's for tubeless tires. Helps prevent damage to rims, helps prevent burping and flatting, increases cornering stability, improves traction because you can run lower psi, and it adds extra cush due to acting like suspension with compression and an air spring.

No sir, this is anti pinch flat tire system. It might help if you'd decide to ride on a flat tire after some major tire failure, but it's designed to protect the tire from getting cut after hitting a sharp edge while having low pressure in your tires, like tehy run them today for grip. Also protects the rim from getting damaged easily when the tire deflects too much.

You can install your tire normally, pump it up, pop both beads on and then break free only one side. Insert the air liner and start to put the bead back into the cavity in the middle starting opposite of the valve stem.

I want to get the Vittoria Airliner, but when I was discussing it with my local shop, they told me something concerning. They were saying that the airliner rubs the inside wall of the tire, causing wear on the sides, and then eventually the tire breaks/blows. Have you experienced anything like this with the VA, or other liners?
@viktormichalek23765 жыл бұрын
Think of it this way... Two flat and fair surfaces are rubbing against each other slightly through a thin layer of sealant. On the other side of the carcass, knobby rubber tire blocks are rubbing against rocks, roots and dirt, transferring various forces to the ground. Which of the surfaces is going to wear significantly faster?

your shop has no idea. or just doesnt want the hassle to put it on.

@Sphoxros6 жыл бұрын
That might be true, but I can go-to Lowe's and get nearly the same foam that also doesn't absorb liquid for literally $20....
@tedclev6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, it's nothing like running tubes. This enables you to protect the hundreds or thousand plus dollars you have in your wheels, with the added benefit of more cornering stability, better traction due to lower psi, and the feeling of added travel in your suspension since you've effectively turned your wheel into an air spring with compression. The insulation at Lowe's won't do that, nor will a tube. That said, wheel liners aren't for every rider; it totally depends on your style, terrain, ability, etc. For me, it's well worth it.
@mtbmike98665 жыл бұрын
@@Sphoxros You can buy 2 Huck Norris inserts for $60-70. They wear/break down so you may go through 1-2 a season. The $20 stuff is even a softer material so it may wear even faster. Same goes with Cushcore but at least Cushcore will last most people 2-3 full seasons. This stuff shows zero signs of wear after a full season and appears their claim of lasting 2000 hours is accurate. So in the long run it will save you money. Right now they are on sale for $55-60 each.

What's the point of the air liner if you still need sealant?
@toddmargeson33306 жыл бұрын
Because sealant is what makes a tubeless tire air-tight (If you run a tire with no sealant, but have the liner, your tire would be flat by the end of every ride). It also seals up small punctures from thorns, etc. The Air Liner's purpose is completely different: it's to keep your rim from bottoming out on rocks/roots, preventing rim damage and tears in the tire sidewall (which sealant can't fix). The purpose of sealant, and the purpose of the Air Liner, have nothing to do with each other.
