The Tour Divide I Sofiane Sehili - VITUS

The Tour Divide is one of the hardest bike races on the planet. 2,754 miles of ultra-endurance bikepacking from Canada to the Mexican border. Self-supported, alone, with just the bike.
Sofiane Sehili won The Tour Divide 2022. Rolling into Antelope Wells at 11.36pm on June 24th. Clocking a race time of 14 days, 16 hours, and 36 minutes. Battling extreme weather, and the odd bear encounter.

I rode a black and silver vitus 797 in the early 90's for a while. The lugged aluminum wonder, not. That thing was the most flexi frame i have ever riddden. Worse than an alan of that same era. I think i had it for one seaon only. That frame is the only one i have ever ridden in my entire life that developed the wobbles when going fast. It was scary. The front end would start violently shaking back and forth. Scary. I got rid of that as fast as i could. I ended up getting one of the first specialized Allez carbon. The lugged ones. Carbon tubes with aluminum lugs bonded onto the tubes. I had that one for about 5 years. Nice bike that. Hearing Vitus just brings back really bad memories.

Wishing for you to come and do this race again. Your last two were weather affected - who wouldn't dislike that level of misery. Weigh the chances of a more ideal season. A faster time is in you. All of this will seem possible after memories of this race have faded.

AZTR is not the same race as the GDMBR. They have a different (and possibly controversial) set of rules. Getting angry for Sofiane's accomplishment is very petty and has nothing to do with what happened to Lael.
