High Court in UP has two Benches - Lucknow and Allahabad Benches. Jurisdiction of those Benches are within the territory of only UP, just like other High Courts. So what is so special about this news in the distant Kerala!

The lower courts of another state can cite as an example in their orders but the concluding and binding decisions are always based on the judgments of the Supreme Court, relevant high court, and extant rules and regulations. However your capitalized opinion is correct. In one judgment of the Supreme Court it was given 'judgment of this court is the law of the land equally applicable to local bodies, departments, etc.' Which High Court can stamp like that? As part of our duties of adjudication we are supposed to study and follow judgments of High Courts, tribunals and necessarily of the Supreme Courts. Even without these we can perform our duties but that tantamounts to sacrificing strong government cases through adjudication and the reward for which will be decided by the government. Unless and until you have a Godfather you will be cornered against the wall. I have no Godfather anywhere!

@Apollo Poseidon suppose a Kerala head quartered fellow publishes something and our HC stays or bans it he has no alternative but to obey purely because of the location of his head quarters and he cannot afford to sell outside Kerala. Because his rival will bring it before the court which will be a contempt of the Court. If it were published elsewhere and our HC prohibits the sale then that will be applicable in Kerala only. If you approach Chennai Police with a request in writing for banning the sale of it, based on the order of our HC, they will ask you to produce appropriate order from Chennai HC. There is another side of this argument :if the Chennai publisher has sales or other offices all over India and the Chennai HC had banned sale anywhere in India then the Chennai publisher has no alternative but to obey because majority of whatever he has is under the jurisdiction of the Chennai HC. Similarly Delhi HC has some extra jurisdiction, advantage or powers, you name it, purely because of its location at the NCR. Suppose they ban or prohibit something in print or visual media all these fellows are bound to obey it purely because they have their hq in Delhi and hence under the jurisdictional tentacles of the Court. Think that Delhi HC has stayed some orders of the Finance Ministry or other ministries they are making sure the implementation of the Court order through the ministry which is jurisdictionally located under the court. That is the reason why it has all - India effects. In other words, you just try to distinguish between the powers and prestige of Delhi HC with other HCs.
