The PS22 Chorus of 2009 has some fun with Coldplay's Viva La Vida, the amazing new hit single from the album of the same name. Aside from the full chorus version, another treat at the end is hearing my soprano and alto coaches singing their hearts out a cappella. April handles the solo on both versions and she is definitely prvoing to be a rising star of the PS22 Chorus. The PS22 Chorus consists of about 60 fifth graders and have sung with Tori Amos, Crowded House, among many others. took about 4 to 5 rehearsals. but this was the beginning of the year. if i had taught it to them now, they would have learned this in a practice or two. they're pretty amazing! :)

agreed. this was recorded before the guitar version, so the kids didn't know the song as well. we also dropped the key a step for the guitar version, which made it much easier for them to sing. :)

I see the faces of them all, feeling the song and it's refreshing to see how good teachers motivate them all. thanks a lot josh. actually, you should check out the other acoustic guitar version that i posted. the kids sounded much better after i lowered the key for them a bit. i only leave this version up cuz of the a capella performance at the end. i love that, but the full chorus sounds better in the guitar version. cheers! :)

Listen, singing for the fun of singing is cool, but you guys are more than cool... you are unbelievably talented. ouch. and thanks -- respectively..... don't mean to be 'cheap' in my response. just very busy, and that was the quick answer. to elaborate, my #1 priority is that i create an environment that is comfortable for them to express emotionally. being physically comfortable plays in to that. making 10 year olds stand for an hour long rehearsal is self-defeating. these kids achieve their BEST performances while sitting. don't ask me why. if i had to speculate, i'd say it's cuz they're comfortable
