The PS22 Chorus of 2011 is going full throttle as we head towards the end of the school year with this gorgeous cover of "True Colors" by the legendary Cyndi Lauper! Another glorious accomplishment from our favorite fifth graders... worth the all sorts of black and blue I'm going to be tomorrow!

fantastic! reminds me of me and my 6th grade class in Bed-Stuy 40 years ago. The kids in my class put on a singing show for the whole school and were so good that three of the girls (and I remember their names after all these years!) were invited to the Apollo theater in Harlem to perform. Wish I had videos of that but at least the memories will always be with me - and hopefully with the kids as well.

I love most the honest, pure song that the kids make. I also like their joy for what they sing as it shows in their expressions. I realize that you encourage kids to be expressive but there is something that happens when these kids sing, their expressions taught have become their own. I've seen choruses and conducted choruses where you teach expression but truly the conductor has found a way for these kids to be themselves while keeping quality and depth at a premium.

As usual, you let everyone see your true colors. Hope your knee feels better. Still a great song, great arrangement, and great performance. Cindi Lauper remains a great performer. I saw her a few years ago in Manhattan & believe me, she hasn't lost it. She puts on a great show. I hope that the kids know who they're emulating--a jewel.
