I have seen actual specials like this. I went into a shop to buy detergent. And 1 bottle was like 6.95. So i thought cool and I grabbed one and then I noticed that there's a specials Island sort of things where there's apparently a bunch of items under special offer banner in which every item is a pack of 2 or 3 items and I find the same detergent I picked but this time it was 2 of them taped together and the price was like 14.95. I am good with numbers so I immediately caught that and went to check out with the one bottle. And the cashier was like 'hey why don't you grab the same brand from the specials, it's a good deal.' And I'm like are you serious, that thing at the specials cost more than buying two of them separately, is the additional cost the tape? I don't if she was pretending but she acted like that is a mistake from the office and she called the manager to notify him of the error so they can redo the pricing of the specials package. Later that day I went back to the shop to grab something else ( the shop is like 200mts from my home) and out of curiosity I decided to check detergent and found that the price of specials is still 14.95 but the section where the individual bottles used to be is now empty and they removed the price tag from there.

My local grocery does this with milk occasionally. They'll have the gallons "on sale" for $3 with a big sign. Then if you look at the half gallons which are not "on sale", you'll see that they are only $1.30 each. Worst part is, I'll have to actually stop other customers buying gallons and point out to them that it's cheaper to buy two half gallons, because they won't even check the price, they just see the big yellow SALE sign and make a beeline for the gallon jug.

One will be like a dollar more then another because of local taxes. If you know what you want and how much it usually costs and bring exact change you won't know if you have enough until you go to pay. Shoot some places add an extra tax on things like soda so theres almost no way to know exactly how much you'll need to pay for something until you need to pay.

I live in the Dominican Republic and generally speaking a lot of products are just like that here. For example, buying 1 20lbs bag of rice cost more than if I buy 2 10lbs bags, which just struck me as very strange, and people generally don't react to it either. My wife is Dominican and she just thinks that I'm nuts for buying 2 smaller bags instead of one big bag.. So this is not so unrealistic..Lol
