Great video. There are so many previously overlooked point and shoot cameras that are really taking off now. A personal favorite of mine for street because it is still cheap (I have 3) and has a combination of great optics, better then average build and some nice features and that is the Minolta Himatic AF2. It is descended from the Himatic line of rangefinders from Minolta which were great cameras too. As the name suggests it is a very small rangefinder style camera with AF. It has a leaf shutter and manual film advance and is all black so I have taken pictures of people sitting right across from me and they did not even notice. Very good for candids and no noisy automatic film advance.

manfa17 thank you so much for the support, new video coming up before the end of the week, meanwhile doing some content on IGTV... so happy to hear you got a P’, it’s one of my favorite cameras and the xpan is definitely a great camera but not representative of its elevated market price atm, also limitation likes the one in the Minolta P’ make for great, photographers & photographs ✌🏽

hey awesome channel! I just came across this video because I just oredered this camera online. I was wondering how many exposures do you get on a regular roll of 36 exposure film? thanks!

Hey Matt Aitia, you do get 36 exposures, it is actually 35mm masked

But an awesome little camera with a sharp wide angle
@dirksentaguiam66225 жыл бұрын
hi nice work, how do you rewind the film? thanks
@VivaLaFilm5 жыл бұрын
Dirksen Taguiam the camera will wind back the film automatically when you get to the last image, but if you need to wind before the end of the roll, there is a tinny button on the bottom on the camera that can be press, that will activate the rewind mechanism.
@kakaworu6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it has a super sharp lens not to mention the aperture is fixed on this camera.
@VivaLaFilm6 жыл бұрын
Kaworu Chang I guess for the size and nature of this Canera the Lens is pretty sharp... I got other point and shoots with 28mm lenses but not this sharp
@harpohonigstock49865 жыл бұрын
where did you get this film? I have the same camera and my shots aren't coming out as nicely on Kodak 200 as they are on this Tudor 200iso. Also I shot my first roll on it last week and the film rewinded automatically after only 15 shots?! not sure if you'd know about this issue but just thought I'd mention it ahaha. Thanks for the great video!
@VivaLaFilm5 жыл бұрын
Harpo Honigstock Tudor Film was a very special hi quality film, a mixture between ektar and Portra, fine grain and some nice colours but they don’t longer make this film the roll I shot in this video is one of my collection of expired films and for the canera rewinding after only 15 shots, maybe it has an electronic issue but that can only be tested by opening up the camera witch might not be worthwhile depending where in the world you are as it can be more expensive than the cost of the camera it self to repair

How do you turn off the flash? I press the flash button and I can’t tell when it’s off.

Charles C there is not switch off bottom but a cancel flash button on the top left of the camera that need to be hold or pressed while shorting an image to omite or cancel the flash for that shot

Cool shots and interesting looking film. But I'm wondering; Is it comfortable enough to compose through the viewfinder? You mentioned it's pretty big, so I suppose it's fine, but just wondering anyway. By the way; I like your film-strip tattoo. ;)
@VivaLaFilm6 жыл бұрын
Michael Angelo H. Thank you! I actually find the viewfinder very comfortable, bright, large(for this tiny camera) and with an accurate representation of the final image. Have you tried any point and shoot with panorama?
@michaelangeloh.53836 жыл бұрын
Nice. I might be able to get one of these, with some luck. - I have never used any panorama-format P&S for film. But I noticed this one by the post of the Australian shop on Instagram, which you commented on, and now I really want to experiment with the aspect-ratio. - I suppose I could shoot normally, while compensating for a crop, and crop it digitally later, but that's a bit too vague during shooting itself.
@nicolasmaz7216 жыл бұрын
Does it crop a regular 35mm frame? Or it uses more space
@VivaLaFilm6 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan, the Minolta P's crops the 35mm frame, so it does waste film, that is one of its downsides I'm afraid.
@Cherokie896 жыл бұрын
How do you scan your negatives? digital camera and a light box? Scanner?
@VivaLaFilm6 жыл бұрын
Cade Johnson for this particular roll? Or in general? ...For this roll I used a pakon. I got a Pakon 35mm scanner and a great Impak dedicated 35 & 120mm scanner too but I have in the past used the a shoe box and a flash light
@Cherokie896 жыл бұрын
Just curious, in general. I wasn't sure if you had a darkroom and an enlarger or if you did like most of us sane people and scanned negatives. Thanks!
@VivaLaFilm6 жыл бұрын
Cade Johnson no worries! I actually do have a darkroom too 😂 and an enlarger 😂 but I have not had much time this year for printing my work... what kind of setup do you have?
@Cherokie896 жыл бұрын
Viva La Film that’s awesome! I used to play around in my dads darkroom at the office when i was a kid- he’s a pro photographer for a university. I’ve never used one myself as an adult, just been in them and watched and “helped.” All the film I’ve ever shot in the past 20 years has just been developed by a photo lab. Its only recently that I’ve decided to convert to home-development. I’ll be using a digital camera to “scan” negatives- a Fuji xt20.
