One of the most melodic of the 37 concertos for solo bassoon composed by Vivaldi. I've heard multiple versions of it previously, but this one, by a young soloist, has not only freshness but also a delicate, soft attack. You don't hear the key sounds, very smooth playing with great passion and tenderness for the music at hand. Bravissimo Poland!

It’s actually a common solo woodwind instrument. Next to the flute, bassoon is the most common woodwind instrument to play solo.

@@caterscarrots3407 in all orchestras there is one player that plays a long note, middle C, for the instrument players to tune to. This is usually done by the Concertmaster, on violin. However live also heard the Bassoonist do this. I suspect it’s because is such a deep and powerful instrument that is easily heard.

I am quite moved by the sight of young talented musicians that keep the legacy of old masters alive and touching our hearts. I haven't heard a bad composition by Vivaldi, I think if he had written a triangle and comb concerto it would have been brilliant. Whoever or what ever posted this performance to my KZbin opening page should get a substantial raise in pay. This was the highlight of my day. The conductor was fantastic. The bassoonist was amazing. Her sound, dynamics, articulations, and technique were beautiful and had me enthralled. The conductor knew what she wanted and got it from the orchestra. This performance needs to be sold on a compact disc. It has been a very long time since I had heard something this beautiful out of a bassoonist. This was long overdue and well worth the listen. I am definitely going to be listening to this again and maybe again . . . .

Props to the soloist here. A lovely piece performed with great feeling and warmth. Standing to play this instrument is at best an unwieldy adventure and at worst a miserable experience, but she seems to overcome it well. This is one of my favorite concertos.
