Vivaro gear box rattle

Sound from my gear box, sounds like a football clackson on a quiet scale!

I had same issue , just had it fixed....Its caused by the gear linkage arm popping off the selector arm and it rattles really bad , easy fix for garage to do . £ 25 repair clip and 30 mins to fix it....problem solved....happy days

Common problem with these weak boxes. The crunch into first is a worn synchro ring. The noise in 5th and 6th is the pinion shaft bearing. Both are a strip down of the box and repair. Now because the synchro ring is worn, every time it crunches into gear, it's wearing the dogteeth on both the gear and hub. Since you can't buy the synchro ring separately from the hub, parts alone will be about £400 all in.

Shit, i have same Problem. I just bought primastar, i didnt noticed that 5th and 6th are making noice. Does anyone knows how far i can drive like this?

Mine have the same problem it is diesel made 70,000km and is model 2005 on the 2nd gear it also makes noise I have an Isuzu Gemini of 1989 done 305,000km I never changed gearbox oil and still perfect only one day I changed the trust bearing and as it was opened I changed a new clutch but is still running on the factory pressure plate in my opinien they have somthing wrong from the factory

My van also have another problem which all my life I never met when the wheels are steered the gearlever stucks when I straighten the wheels the gear lever comes normal again for only 70,000km it is horrible

When you get it serviced you need to have the gearbox oil changed but mine is a 58 plate and anything before the facelift its usually a bearing problem
