Vivek Athreya | Prema the Journalist

Vivek Athreya is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Telugu cinema. He made his directorial debut with Mental Madhilo (2017) and then followed it up with Brochevaru Evaru Ra (2019), both starring actors Sree Vishnu and Nivetha Pethuraj. His recent work was Ante Sundaraniki (2022) that drew wide appreciation from Critics. He also won the Critics' Choice Film Awards for Best writing - Brochevaru Evaru.

I don't know why people cry about the length of Ante Sundaraniki. The length was extremely necessary to explore that kind of childhood trauma which gives us a sense of why the characters are behaving the way they are. Prema garu annattu edi cut chesina link pothundi. There are so many intricacies in the script and naku okka chota kuda bore anipinchaledu. I am so proud that mana Telugu lo intha manchi cinema vachindi ani. It's really sad that it didn't do well but I'm grateful to Vivek for Ante Sundaraniki. Will forever remain a classic.

When I saw the first look after that teaser of this movie I strongly felt that this is a must watch movie in the theatre. But due to the constraint that I am in Sweden, I had to wait till Netflix released it. Characters, Characterisations of this movie is awesome. I just saw your recent interview with Prema and surprised to know that screen play was done at paper level. Which I want to say hat’s off to your imagination in connecting the dots. I watched this movie for almost 4 times so far because of the way it is taken. And the conclusion of the story is unexpected and very nice 👌🏻 Thank you Prema for all your nice interviews. Journalism is about a signature, it can be at the comfort of journalist. Mix and match chestaru that's fine appude vallu adagalanukundi adugutaru. I think more than length, timing of movie is also wrong. Major, Vikram, RRR big releases tarvatha Ante vachindhi. At the same time start of schools, so naaku apart from length time of release was issue. Audience appatiki chala movies chusaru and they need a break. ticket prices were also a bit high. So timing and length to some extent was issue.

Don't let these useless opinions affect your writing...Ante Sundaraniki is one of the best telugu films...at no point I felt the length of the film, it was like a breeze... people can check the runtime of any film before booking the tickets, if they can't sit their asses for another 20 or 30 mins to experience a good film they probably shouldn't even watch those films in the first place because their opinion is simply trash and worthless...it is sad to see such naive and nonsensical feedback regarding length is going to subconsciously affect your writing in work around to make a crisper film... don't do that please...I watched ante 3 times in theatre, countless rewinds in Netflix...you make a 5 hour film, if it's good there is a section of audience like us who'll happily watch it... you are creating art, don't let anyone ruin it...when we look back from the future, films like Ante are the ones which will make us proud ❤️
