From Ohio and a white female here..Im voting Vivek..I would vote Vivek for president in 2028 also. I’m not voting because of his nationality…but because of his values. God Bless him. I’m adding the fact that I used the wrong word, I meant heritage or color of skin etc. because many are judging him on that. Some nay sayers on here commenting that they know my thoughts and my knowledge, education, etc. I am an author, have written two books with one on Amazon, I’m an artist, mother, grandmother, and I love my country. Thank you to those who understand I misspoke, used a word that was not absolutely correct. As we all know, nobody is perfect. Vivek seems to want good things for our country as well. As it stands, I will vote for him for those reasons, unless he does something critical to change my mind, I’m open to listening to all. God Bless.

@BrandonIT13377 күн бұрын
As a conservative, I would absolutely vote for Vivek. I think it's way lower than 20% now of conservatives that have an issue with skin color, but we all have our own experiences. 51:00 - Man, I miss the Presidential Fitness tests each year. That and free plastic jump ropes for Jump Rope For Heart. 59:30 - The 'normal' 2-parent husband & wife family presented in Inside Out for example was so refreshing for example for kids to see. Same for the animated Spider-Man movies from Sony (Into the Spiderverse, etc.) 1:04:00 - Raising the minimum wage is NOT the answer - finding a way to both offer & incentivize people to get skills that will get them a NON-minimum wage job. For example, McDonald's & Chick-Fil-A offering tuition reimbursement & flexible hours for education.
@aneeshakella1217 күн бұрын
Genuine question about your last point, why should all minimum wage jobs be relegated to stop hold temporary positions people are meant to get out of? Especially when some of those min wage positions are considered “essential workers” as evidenced by the fact that they had to go in to work during the pandemic
@ras-negusbloomfield81457 күн бұрын
I applaud you 👏 for all the time you took to highlight these key points of the pod. I really hope people were listening.
@BrandonIT13377 күн бұрын
@@aneeshakella121 - Our economy (for 95% of us) is based on supply & demand for our skills. For this example let's take the skill to fix my car (mechanic) versus the skill to deliver a plate of food (waiter). Now, I can easily pick up my own food (evidenced by restaurants like Chipotle and and Five Guys). So the amount I (as a business owner) am willing to pay someone to move that food is very low. In fact, as evidenced by tip laws, it's actually even lower than minimum wage. On the other hand, I would require days of effort to fix my car. I would need to KZbin or other online resources various possible fixes and apply those fixes, assuming I did not need additional parts. It would take me (as an example) probably 3 days to fix my car. Therefore I am willing to pay a larger amount of money to someone to fix my car. We could do this for many jobs. At the end of the day, I am not willing to pay McDonald's $10 for a hamburger (where I live), so the amount they can pay workers has a maximum. People cannot expect to pay every McDonald's worker $25/hour or $52,000 yearly. Now we can expand this discussion as Vivek did about shareholders and executive compensation. I totally agree with him about the problems of institutional shareholders. I own stock in thousands of companies (thanks to my 401k & IRA) but I NEVER get to vote - because the fund votes all the shares as a block. It is a caveat to simplicity (1 voter vs potentially millions) but it does cause issues with only a small amount of "shareholders" actually ever cast a vote. But even if you took the entire McDonald's CEO salary of $19,000,000/year it would only amount to an extra $126/year per employee. There will always be a need for low-skill labor. Iny lifetime, there's been a cultural shift away from the "dignity of work". We need to get back to that. Everyone is important, but not everyone is equal in pay. I want to see everyone have the same opportunity (hence the availability of education programs for low-skilled fast food employees) but everyone is NOT and never will be equal. Some are just smarter than others and will be able to learn advanced skills that others are not capable of. I know this because, even as a highly skilled I.T. engineer now, I failed intermediate Calculus twice in college - lost my scholarship over it. I know my limits, because I hit them. I have a friend who is a math whiz, he got a B.S. in mathematics and went on to teach. But he couldn't change the oil in his car to save his life. We need to make education 'available' (not necessarily free) because every year there's a new set of employees coming up. They need opportunities. So we need to educate out all those that CAN do better and let the new people in, until they too can be educated. I know this is long, but it is a HUGE topic and my original statement was just the tip of the iceberg. Even this just barely covers it.

outside of his color his religion is what many Conservatives have a big issue with.

@ - As an evangelical Christian, I don't have a problem with politicians having different beliefs than I because there's very few that do (see President Trump for instance). But yeah, I suppose I could see that. While Christians are making up a smaller amount of the overall conservative movement than ever before, they do still make up enough where the subset you described could be around 20%. Appreciate your insight.

The difference between this show and the one with trump is wild. It almost seems insulting how little respect youre giving vivek. I totally understand yall are comedians and i get busting balls.
