Vivian Maier, a street photographer from the 1950s - 1970s. Vivian's work was discovered at an auction here in Chicago where she lived for 50 years but was originally a native to France. Her discovered work includes between 30-40,000 mostly medium format negatives. Born February 1, 1926 and deceased on Tuesday, April 21, 2009.

Vivian Meier is wonderfully talented. She could be up there as one of the masters of street photography. Watching this slideshow of her work just gave me the goosebumps. Her photographs speaks volumes.

A remarkable trip back in time showing real people's lives. The photographs + perfectly appropriate music contributed to my poignant feeling. Despite the messages from Hollywood, TV, and advertisements, most people's lives are not glamorous.

These pictures are unbelievable. Fully the equal of, if not superior to, Robert Frank or Diane Arbus - who are stars in this field. I anticipate we're just at the start of Vivian Maier achieving the same level of fame as they, which she richly deserves. And she shot 100 times more photos that either of them! To think this will all happen after her death, too.

Most of these are new to me, having seen much of her work. I'm guessing many of these were developed from the rolls she herself had never seen. Also the reproduction of these are much more contrasty then the previous works. I loved them however.

What a shame the music was changed, "Central Park Blues" fitted far better with Maier's work than this boring tune. :(
