A week or two ago I shared a cover of “Tennessee Whiskey” (1981), by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove, that used a new Cynthia Lin arrangement. While we were learning it from her, I was wondering why the chords and pacing felt so familiar to me. Turns out, and others have had this idea before me, it’s because they’re the same as for “I’d Rather Go Blind” (1967) - by Ellington Jordan, Billy Foster, and Etta James - so I’ve been working on my own mashup of the two (in A). Here it is, so far.
