Update - I keep practicing and getting satisfactory results more and more. I started with 4x4 tiles and struggled. Today I tried 8x8 thinking it would be harder and it was EASIER! I couldn't believe it. Made about 5 tiles now. Question: I got some pink stains on the edge of the ceramic tile and having a devil of a time cleaning off before varnishing. Would a handheld nail grinder work do you think? I've tried a smoothing stone, 220 grit sandpaper, and wiping with alcohol an it won't get these pink stains out. Suggestions? Thank you for all your help. Deena

Paint the edges. I do that for all of my tiles. Getting ink on the edge is unavailable. Use a color that matches the colors used on the tile and then seal it. It gives it a finished look. You can use posca pens or acrylic paint. Let me know if you give it a try. So glad you found your happy place and didn't give up!

That's so GORGEOUS! THIS is my fav flower you do now! How close do you get to the tile when you use the blower? Almost touching it, or something else? Also, do you position your hand so it's nearly parallel, or is it more perpendicular or something else? I have an issue with the petal being too wide then it almost always splits in two at the end and so I frantically try to meld them back together but they are dry by then. I've tried it every which way and I just can't get them to look like that or even close. I want to just enjoy this process but I can't if I can't do the petals correctly Frustrating!
@VivoVintageDesigns2 жыл бұрын
I'm holding it pretty close to the tile, nearly parallel. When your petals split, use the Blower on the sides of the petal to blow the alcohol towards the split or just blow another petal over it and remember yo use a good amount of alcohol. Using tike while learning is great bc you can just wipe it off if you don't like it and start again. Good luck and don't give up.

@@VivoVintageDesigns Can you be more specific on what type of sealer is used to protect alcohol inks before adding resin to the piece?
@VivoVintageDesigns4 жыл бұрын
@@vadabaker381 I use 2 coats of Krylon Kamar varnish and 2 coats of Kylon Kamar UV protection, then varnish.

I tried this as my first attempt today, but couldn't achieve the smooth pale pedals like you did. Do you use 99% alcohol or a blending solution? I tried both and still could not achieve your result. I would love to keep practicing and get this down as it is just too gorgeous! I am making gifts to give away for my 70th birthday. Any tips would be appreciative. I used Pinata black with the Ranger bulb. Thank you.
@VivoVintageDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hi DM. I use 99 % alcohol. Your issue may be that you are allowing the alcohol to spread over the black. Only touch the alcohol to the edge of the black and work quickly. Hope that helps...let me know

@@VivoVintageDesigns Update - after multiple tries to practice your technique, I have improved. I can't show you, but I got close after using a q-tip to manipulate the pedals as the bulb blower just wasn't giving me the same translucent effect. I also turned off the ceiling fan as they could have been drying things out too quickly. Plus I am using a different brand of alcohol inks.

How do u seal the tiles?
@VivoVintageDesigns4 жыл бұрын
I use kamar varnish, then kamar UV protection and if I were goi g to use it as a coaster, I would resin it.
