Totally agree, the Championship is a great division with the vast majority of teams being equal. In the premier league their are several teams who dominate the league. Also, when you get promoted from the Championship, there is a big divide in quality and it shows. The premier league when you struggle is no fun, big defeats, poor refereeing, top teams hounding the ref to get their way, players fouling blatantly and getting away with it, and finally their is VAR which is just not used properly. Give me the Championship any day!

@willismur55163 ай бұрын
The Leicester game was actually the first PL match I've ever attended. Was very entertaining from the neutral perspective but had to feel bad for Saints fans. Felt like they played a decent game but after a few of Anthony Taylor's questionable decisions and the Vardy pen, you knew it was only a matter of the time. You could tell how important the result would be and that they were just trying to hang on. That goal in the 98th was an absolute gut punch... On a more positive note though, the atmosphere was absolutly amazing! I can't wait to make it back to another game before I have to head back to Canada. I know it's been a couple years since I've really been active in the FIFA/football scene but I never stopped watching and am so happy to see one of the first videos talking about about the game was from you! Crazy to think I've been watching 8+ years now. Time flies! Wish you the best Liam! 😄

Difference between Kompany and Martin is that Kompany could justify playing the way he did in the PL because Burnley completely pissed the Championship. Southampton weren't convincing last year, they went on a long run of beating poor sides but fell away drastically. They were fortunate in that at Wembley, they faced the one good side who couldn't get a grip on them.

Another issue, and it’s not exclusive to Southampton at all, is that some managers are completely dogmatic in their approach to the game - NEVER adapting when needed. That is the sign of a poor manager to me. It’s ok when you’ve got City’s squad and Pep wants you to knock it around, but when you’re an average or below average prem team, you can’t delude yourself into thinking you’re going to be able to implement expansive football all the time. I’m not saying switch to 442 and you’ll automatically win, of course not, but if you refuse to adapt, then you’re ultimately the architect of your own downfall. It’s sad, but it’s the reality of many of the promoted sides nowadays.

If Russell Martin does stay (which he probably will, unless a bigger club signs him like Kompany) then Southampton will likely end up as a yo-yo club. He has a style of play which does work but hasn't got the players to do it in the premier league It really depends on what Southampton owners want. If they want to go up and stay up then they should use a manager like Kompany or Russell Martin then replace him with a manager that has a defensive counter attacking style instead I don't think you'll see the manager sacked (unless the fans riot) as the owners are probably happy to be a yo-yo club Burnley weren't going to sack Kompany last season, the only reason why he's not there anymore is cause no one else wanted the Bayern job
