Im 42 and from fifa 18 to 22 i spent a fortune... i now have a daughter and i enjoy F1 23 and Forza instead as the gameplay and the rip off that is FUT hit home when i spent 12k points on 4 or 5 packs and didnt get shit. It's a real shame, because me being a big FIFA/EAFC player still to this day, it's sad to see this go so far downhill, I used to spend a bit of money but I found out it wasn't worth it in the end, and since then I've been grinding the game still, yeah it's not gonna be easy for me to get better players because I'm doing the cheapest and free way, but it's like EA are punishing us for not giving them what they what... Same homie I used to buy and noticed when I complained my Next pack I would get messi. Made me think not to give them my money after spending 700 dollars I complained and yeah I was packing great players. Next year graded the game for what to restart again. Ultimate team if it was up to me: -Not Ultimate Team anymore but "Online Career" -No different cards for the same player anymore, each player has 1 standard card. -Players can improve and regress over time. -Career mode like features (from the usual career and borrowed from FM) such as scouting, international market, financials and more. -Amount of in-game cards lowers as player ratings go up, top cards are very rare. -Inclusion of academy players and regens, 1 fifa cycle is 6 years in online career to keep things fresh. -League system that promotes/relegates you on a weekly basis. -Weekly Open Cups (monday to friday) with big rewards. -Champions Cup in the weekends, equiavalent to weekend league. Qualification based on league performance (for example: top 50% from league 1, top 40% from league 2, top 30% from league 3, etc.) and Open Cup performance. I'm sure there is a lot wrong with this system but atleast it tries to be somewhat realistic and really feels like you're competing with other players.

I remember i played during Christmas FIFA14 and FIFA 19 ( of course no ultimate team). And honestly, even in those games who were supposed to be worse since they are 5, respectively 10 years old, but i barely esperienced any bugs and everything seemed much more real to the real life football than whatever you can do in FC24

1) FUT died when you were unable to trade player cards with a friend/user. As you mentioned, the football is second while the packs are the core. 2) After TOTY started this year and that random glitch happened, the game plays strange, as if that glitch error is still bugging the game more than it already had been. 3) I dread Champions with the squad that I have. The game has granted me qualification automatically a few times too but I rarely play it. When I do, I aim to qualify then go for 6 wins and call it quits, and I barely get there at times. Rivals can be a good mix. I focus on Squad Battles now for evolutions (which is possibly the best addition of the game so far addition along with the 4 minute halves) I sometimes get the Xbox out and get on FIFA 07. A true gem.

It's such a shame what happened to fifa, I'm the same age as you and up until this fifa I basically bought and played them every year since way before UT. Even though I still caved and bought the last few up to EAFC for me the magic of fifa and UT and having special cards etc died after fifa 18/19, I regularly see people online defend some of the games after that but honestly those people clearly didn't play UT in its prime, 18 and 19 weren't great at the time but what I would give to go back to those even compared to the current game. And fifa 14-17 was just some of the most fun i've ever had in a sports game, you rarely saw legends and almost never packed them, same with with TOTY etc the cards were crazy good and OP but because they were so rare to see. People built and used sweaty gold teams for much of the year and would then complement it with some informs from a pack opening at some point. FUT champs also killed it for me personally because the game became more of a sweaty grind and less about the gameplay. On paper the rewards from FUT champs are so much better so there is actually less grind, but that's the thing it made people play to get packs, whereas on the old relegation and promotion divisions system you got a chunk of coins you could use to upgrade one position heavily and people played it to play the game itself, not for any sort of pack or reward. What I would give to go back to that honestly.

As time went by, it stopped being a football game and instead became a poker game - those who P2W have the best cards. I’ve been a div 1 rivals and 15-18 win champs player for the last 3 years with a no money spent RTG. This year it is near impossible to compete unless you pay to win, way worse than before. They literally lowered the skill gap to let casuals compete with better players by just buying mbappe and shit after spending hundreds on packs. Even the fifa KZbinrs I watch who are usually ea simps have called out the lowering of the skill gap . Boras who is one of the 0.01 % fifa players in the world losses to average players on his stream because they have god squads and just park the bus and counter attack with mbappe lol I just gave up last week because I refuse to spend a cent on it and my drogba might as well be a bronze compared to my opponents mbappes

as a destiny vet, i stopped playing because i wanted to play fc and im having loads of fun on the rtg spending no money, grinding the game how i want, fifa always had high highs and low lows, if you dont take it too seriously you will enjoy it, if anyone hates fifa/fc so much dont buy it, maybe youll want to play it again in a couple years and enjoy it, maybe youll find a game you enjoy more, people need to stop attaching to one game and when you have other places you can go, the problems with your main game become far less significant

It's so sad that EA leaned into milking this cash cow as hard as they have. I used to be a big Pro Clubs player. I loved the fact that you could get 11v11 matches that ran SMOOTH, with in-game audio chat for all. But the it felt like with each evolution of Pro Clubs (which only really happened every 5 years or so), it got worse and worse and worse. What's funny is that I played MLB The Show a few years ago and found it rather fun, then eventually tried their Diamond Dynasty mode, which is their version of Ultimate Team. And HOLY CRAP it was *fun*. The game only has one type of currency, and it actually says in the in-game store "You get Stubs from just playing the game, but if you want to give us money for more, we won't stop you." There's a reward for having all the players on the 40-man roster for each of the 30 teams, and it's a beast of a player usually. That's 1200 of the ~1600 non-special cards (there are free-agent cards). And I got it. Because the game gives you Stubs and packs and post-game rewards and all this. And how much did I spend on it? NOTHING. I paid $60 for the game and THAT'S IT. And without dropping an additional dollar on Stubs OR playing any online multiplayer, I was able to get a top-tier endgame-level collection of players... and i STILL had challenges left if I wanted to try them. There's a reason that I have said for years that Sony Santa Monica took The Show and figured out how to do Ultimate Team RIGHT. They still make a bunch of money, but they don't wring it out of you and bleed you dry. And I appreciate that.

I was playing fifa while listening to this vid. Its wild whats been normalized. I refuse to ever buy packs and i have to use a lot of restraint to save my coins and not get suckered. I am lucky i can do that but many people are manipulated by EA into irresponsible spending. Even if you try and trade this year you cant, because multiple times this cycle has rereleased high value cards that people had invested in just to tank their value so people lose coins. This is exactly what I’ve been thinking ever since the game first came out back in September. As someone who as been playing the game since fifa 15 and as someone who is strictly rtg based with no external funding, I don’t need a lot in a game like this to be entertained throughout the year. But even as someone who doesn’t need a lot to enjoy ultimate teams, this might be one of the worst games I have ever played, ever. With repetitive gameplay, metas that take ages to reach without spending a good chunk of money that usually never lasts anyway by the time you get there. Genuinely a terrible experience playing this game and I don’t want to ever touch it again.

I started playing fifa last year to get into football because I found it interesting while watching the world cup. I heard EAFC was coming out so I was a bit hyped, but it was for the online career mode. Sadly that never became a thing so I never bought it. I downloaded it on the free weekend and it felt like FIFA 23 with a graphic mod and team updates. I hated FUT so much even with the myTEAM on 2k existing I felt like that was less bad than FUT. Everyone kept telling me FUT was fun but whenever I played it I never enjoyed it as much as kick off or career mode.

I really think that a lot of other content creators that do pack opening videos are part of the reason as to why this is such a big issue. Their videos are inadvertently encouraging the youth to waste their money on packs to try emulate what they see in videos. I understand that content creators need content to create, and people can waste their money as they please, but I really really really think they need to start putting disclaimers or warnings at the starts of their videos similar to gambling warnings because their content is undoubtedly adding fuel to the fire and crippling those with addictions. Just my 2 cents.

I still rock the PS4 and it’s 50/50 if FUT servers can handle the menus, let alone a match this year. In the past, FIFA would have been a reason for me to upgrade, but I don’t have time to get my treat from EA for daily check-ins just to see another 25 SBCs and ANOTHER promo. Then watch pack animations for a half hour to put back into ‘crafting’ SBCs, only to realize I’ve wasted 2 hours and haven’t played ONE match.

I've been playing FIFA Mobile since 2017. So I Though this year I would try EA FC on PC for the first time. First of all , the time you need to actually make progress in the game is crazy. As someone who never spent any money on FC points , I've always felt like a had a disadvantage over people who spend lots of money into the game, and even if you want to make some good amount of coins for packs , it's almost impossible to have all the hours you need free in your day to play. Apart from the big currencies problem , the game is absolutely broken , full of glithes and random things happening. I Mean how can a 70 pace defender keep up with a striker who has 94 pace? It's a massive dissapointment , and in this current state , I Can't see myself purchasing another installation of the series. Amazing Video by the way , enjoyed it a lot. The reality is, it's very very easy to get a good team, but the thing is that's not even the point anymore people don't want good teams they don't want to forever chase the next the next shiny SBC man

The store packs are so tempting….even more tempting this year….i packed Xavi and Lahm toty icons by some upgrade packs but the store packs are insanely expensive and manipulative 18:34 exactly Evolutions got me as well….I upgraded a Walker and i am doing Jota and Armstrong….i bought 1600 points for 10 pound….they even gave me a Van Persie so i go and upgrade for another 10….aint doing it happy with my Di Natale….am buying this game in November next year or in Christmas…fk even the ultimate edition is so cheap in sales…never buying this for full price

Worst part about the % breakdowns for the packs is that the 4.7% chance is a chance to get ANY TOTY player. If you hit that 4.7% chance, you then go to another stage of randomisation where the game decides which TOTY player to actually give you. So within that 4.7%, approximately 4.65% is all the players you either don't want or aren't valuable, and the remaining 0.05% is the actual chance of getting one of the best cards. In simple terms, you'd have to buy 2000 of those packs, which is equivalent to £70,000, before you could expect one of the best cards based on probability. I was a top 100 player for 3-4 years before FIFA 22, at which point I quit because the game itself was awful. Looks like I got out early enough to avoid this microtransaction cesspit.

This is a really insightful video, mate! its absolutely frustrating how its become this black hole of spend-get pissed-spend again. 😂 what i found works for me is to just play without spending and level my expectations when going up against credit card FC teams. And rejoice in the occassional 7-1 win against Prime R9 merchants 😅 Great stuff dude keep it up!

I can't believe how bad its become. The last fifa I played was fifa 20 and I was thinking about getting the fifa 24 (I know thats not the name but it is what it is) as I thought maybe things would have improved. How naive I am. I'm glad I've seen this video now. I remember the buzz of being 12 and getting some fifa points. I was lucky though and got a couple of things from it. I'm now 19 thinking how sad it has to be for the kids who have no idea how the system works against them. This was a really good video, thank you man

The biggest issue imo is the fact that there is no competition in the football game genre. Its fifa or nothing. Even if we absolutely hate the game, theres no where else to turn to.

Don’t you mean £80 a pop for a 4% chance at a TOTY because you normally have to purchase the highest fc point option to even be able to open those £35 packs which come out every other day? I never thought I was a gambling addict until I started playing ultimate team last year. I am probably going to get roasted for saying this, but I am literally spending £1,000 a month on fut coins, fc points, and boosting and I can’t seem to stop. I would delete this game if I could, but my kids love getting new cards and whatever the next promo is that EA releases. It’s madness, I know. However, videos like this really help me believe I can kick my addiction (?)

Everyone has super teams now but it doesnt mean that they are good. And it's true about the micro transactions. But there's no way they will remove it. If you want to save money dont buy fc points or just dont play the game. You know what your getting yourself into

What have i got from fifa in few years? Pain... in FifA 15 I had mostly gold team + inform müller in div 1. Nowdays everyone has million special cards and if you don't play fifa constantly you'll feel like you're left behind.
