Followed these steps, and now I've got normal sound and power, but a blank dark picture. Tried the flashlight test, nothing becomes visible. I can tell there is light there, but nothing discernable. My guess is I didn't plug everything back together properly, but any suggestions on the most likely culprit to keep me from dissecting rhe whole TV again just to poke around?

Anyone know how similar the repair would be on a D55-F2? Should be pretty much the same, just a larger TV, right? (Yes, I know the part-numbers would be different. I'm asking about the procedure depicted in this video, not the specific part numbers. Thanks)

For the record -- this was not exactly like the D55-F2, but it was close enough that I was able to effect a proper repair on my TV. With the new LED backlights, the picture looks *great!* now! Thanks, Shop Jimmy! (FYI the LEDs for my D55-F2 were p/n I-5500WS80091-R-V2 for the right ones and I-5500WS80091-L-V2 for the left ones. You need 5 of each.)

When I check the backlight voltage, it’s 35. Does that mean the same as if it’s 46?

Since when is a Vizio an "off brand" in any market?!?! I have 5 over a period of 15 years and only one has gone bad, where a daughter board needed to be replaced. The latest one (#6) purchased two years ago, developed the backlighting issue a few months ago. I am now looking to fix or replace.

How did you remove it sensor ? You didn't show that?

Why is it all these off brand labeled TV backlighting always fail? I had at least 3 do this and then I finally purchased a Samsung that's on almost all day every day few 4 years now and backlighting is fine. Off brands lasted maybe year to two years and boom backlighting failed.

Is it even worth fixing tvs nowadays, with as cheap as they are?
@Freebird_672 жыл бұрын
These off brand TV's will only last a couple years before needing something replaced. Usually it's the backlighting but some times Power supply units. Better off buying a more expensive brand like Samsung or other which I've had running constantly for year and no issue. Got tired off buying these $350 50' off brand sets and having them crap out.

Yes! Even if you choose to buy a cheaper set, it's usually more economical to fix than replace. Thanks for watching!
