Vizio TV Turns On But No Picture FIX

I turned my TV off for the night, and tried to turn it on the next morning and it wouldn't turn on. Hasn't worked since. It's barely 3 years old. The 3 year warranty expired 4 months ago. I believe that Vizo knew that there would be problems with their TV's when they sold them. There needs to be a massive recall on their products. Bring back RCA at least their televisions lasted a good 15 -20 years. 📺📺📺📺📺📺📺 If it was good enough then it should be good enough now. Bring back the good Ole craftmanship that I grew up with!

DUDE... I’ve been trying to diagnose this thing for a year. I knew it wasn’t effed because of the odd fading of the power button, figured I’d watch another video and thank god it was this one. Much appreciated. Gonnna scavenge it and put the cash towards a new one! Thanks!

This is what did for the dark screen I removed everything and placed all back like it was. It worked. On the other I switched the LED strip. It works now. But sometimes it's not that, it's the mother board, needs to be Re-solder or some capacitor/s maybe swollen. I've done this also, switching the capacitors from other appliances that I keep for spare parts.

I've got a 42 or so inch Vizio that went black. It turns on as seen by the light at the bottom. But shining the light doesn't reveal any dim letters like you showed. Think its worth getting the new LEDs and trying to fix?

Wow, I know this video is 3 years old but this is the exact problem I am having. Now I have an answer, now I just need to figure out if I want to go through the process of repair. I know I can do the repair myself, that's not an issue with me. The question is what type of LED strip, where to get and of course the cost. The TV is not that old but still might be out of warranty, I guess I will try to contact Vizio first just in case if not then I am on my own. I found most companies now sometimes will work with you even just slightly out of warranty (except like HP). But some do. If they can't or won't my next step is trying to find correct or comparable part, like Amazon, ebay, etc. Anyway thanks for this video, it has been very helpful and inciteful.

I have the same issue. I just relaced the LED driver and TCon board and still nothing. The screen lights up but no picture. When I take the back of the TV apart you can see the LED lights on inside.

Your tv is probably either completely broken, or you just need to look harder. On the video it looks pretty visual but its much more difficult to see the screen than it looks on camera. Trust me, i thought the same thing but u just have to really look.

The title of the video insinuated a "fix" to backlight problems -- which to any layperson would assume that there may be a simple fix, especially with a 4 minute video... If I wanted to learn how to take apart a tv for spare parts, thats what I would have looked up.. If I wanted to learn how to take apart a vizio to replace lights, thats what I would have looked up.. Not to mention, even if I did buy the replacement LEDs, he didnt tell us how to replace them... so this video's solution is to either take your tv apart to sell for parts, (doesnt show how to do) or buy new parts to replace them (didnt show how to do.)

Update: tried all your quick fixes and then took it to a electronics repairman and he soldered a loose wire back in place in 10 min. Cost $80. TV works like new.

Great video I have a 70" Vizio purchased Feb 2018 and according to your demo to check using the phones backlight I seen the V on screen my question is would the LED light strips normally be the only culprit to this form of problem. I've considered getting the LED lights and doing the work myself but I want to be sure of any underlying issues that can accompany or contribute to the main issue.

Need Help ! Hi, I have a VIZIO E50x-E1 LED TV (purchased 2017) and the screen went black. When powered up and shining a light on the screen I can see the screen dose have the input images. Also it has sound, but the LED back-lights not working. Several hours before the screen went totally black, the upper left corner was darker then normal. When viewing some of the youtube videos, the first suggestion was the back-light LED’s may have failed. I have disassembled the VIZIO E50x-E1 down to the back-light LED’s. Viewing other youtube videos suggested the trouble may be with one of the other boards too. Should I do more investigation or does the symptoms indicate that the back-light LED’s need to be replaced ? (if so how/where do I need to look) Thank you for your very good help.

Not a fix. Moreover, his diagnosis isn't consistent with a slew of other diagnoses on You Tube. The majority point to the inverter board, a.k.a. power supply board, as the culprit. Repairing the board is relatively simple and the costs aren't outlandish. Not to say he's wrong, but rather, everyone should do more research beyond what he offers.

Exactly, my buddy had this same model and it was doing the same thing. He replaced the T-con board and it fix this issue. You really can't resell these boards without testing them first.

Okay - what you've shown is a great fix. But, I don't think ours is quite the same problem. The tv turns on, there is audio, but NO picture. Is this the same as having blown LEDs? If so, we'll just buy a new tv.

CHECK THE POWER CORD CONNECTION GOING IN THE TV* - had this exact issue in the video and just spent an hour doing resets, power cycles you name it. Defeated, I checked the connection ON THE TV seemed ok, gave it an extra push in / wiggle - BOOM, picture back. Don’t overlook this step, it seems stupid but it can be as simple as a bad connection.

Update : Tried all the quick fixes and it was something else that I can't remember the name of but only $80 dollars to have a guy solder the wires back in place. Basically a loose wire on some electronic piece that I could have done if I knew which part was loose. Took a T. V. Repair guy 10 min.

Hello Chris! My Vizio on light stays on even after I unplug it I wait 60 seconds, than plug back in. I can’t turn it off. The screen is black than pops back on as if the picture is coming back. I used my phone flashlight but I don’t seen any wording on the screen. So, I’m thinking the LED lights are ok. The tv came back on for about twenty minutes on it’s own. Now I’m back to the tv just trying to come on no picture. It’s done this a few times before but I was able to due a few quick steps and it started working. Any advice? Thank you 🙏

I just shook my tv one good time and it worked, granted after several shakes and like several hours. My flat screen is on a swivel stand, and I just kept turning the swivel back and forth and; back and forth; then I shook it one good time and it worked, at least for now. I didn’t have to pull it apart. Turn it off and on a bunch of times. This happens a lot with my tv and all it takes is a good shaking and it works again. So, if that is the case, is it really the LED board, maybe it’s faulty, but it isn’t completely shot!

It’s most likely a faulty connection where the components plug together due to dust or corrosion; sometimes bugs. It could also be a short circuit between a positive and negative point anywhere on the circuit board, caused by dust or any conductive enough debris.

Forty Three Madison Botsford But you go to the setting and do a reset on the tv and start allllll over and skip your email etc cause u already set it up. Etc. so you’ll go to menu - tv setting - go to system- click for updates. ( if it still doesn’t work then do the steps above again ) then reset - admin - reset to factory settings - I have the Vizio customer service guy walk me through the sets. I was so happy after I cried and gave me 5 stars lol. Hopes this helps. There number is Technical support: 1 [phone]. And they said you have a warranty and they will ship u a new tv etc. ONLY IF ITS ACTAULKY DAMAGE. You will need the model number on the side of tv it should be on the right side. And by that they see if it’s broken or if it’s not connecting to internet etc. pretty cool sorry for replying late.

Mines busted bro. It just says HDMI in the top right it's black and switches to blue every couple minutes. My PS4 is connected but I don't think it's anything to do with that. It would always have a black screen flick on and off quick like once a day but be fine. Now I went to turn it on and can't see anything. We have a Vizio P55-C1(2016) that has been doing this for a few years.. I had a method that usually fixes it, but is starting to work less then it use to. 1: Unplug tv, wait 10-15 seconds, plug it back in 2: power light will come on, and then go off automatically 3: turn tv on, vizio logo should appear in 5-10 seconds 4: while the vizio logo is on the screen, quickly unplug the tv, and immediately plug it back in 5: power light will come on, and then go off automatically 6: spam power button until the power light comes back on 7: if you have had any success, the power light will go out, the vizio logo will come up, disppear, and your LED panel will light up. this method has worked for me for about 2 years, with it needing it more and more frequently, until finally it just doesn't seem to be working anymore. The sad thing is, my TV started having this problem after Vizio went away from the smartcast tablet, and updated the tvs to use apps. this may have just happened to be around the same time.. but I can't help but feel like their update killed something in my TV.

I have this exact same problem.... BUT When I power the TV (Vizio D65u-D2) on, it works fine for a few minutes. If I turn the brightness down it works indefinitely. What would make my screen go dark like how it is in this video, ONLY after running a high backlight setting, for a few minutes? I can just keep resetting my tv every time it goes dark like this, and I'll have a couple of minutes to adjust everything around (while it is working correctly)
