In this video I tell you how to fix for your TCL 55 inch TV that has sound but no picture. The problem is the back lights have gone out probably just one that is causing it to short and kind of like your old Christmas lights effects them all. You'll have to replace the led strips inside the TV. You'll have to open up the TV and take the display out to access behind the display. It's not that hard of a fix but you will need to be super careful and not crack the display while doing this fix. After the new led lights are installed your TV will be back working 100%. Thank you for your time.

Imagine how good life would be if they just installed a removable backdoor so you could take out the backlight without disassembling the entire damn tv. Thanks for the video

Absolutely! Maybe if Europe starts making laws for easier tv repair, the manufacturers would make them all like that. I'm wondering, though, if dust would get in the tv.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE ADHESIVE FROM THE DISPLAY!!!!! the part of the tv that is glued to the display(that runs along the top edge) is designed to be removed and reinstalled with the tv. Its just a matter of a few clips on the top of the tv that need to be first removed and then the whole display comes right off without any fuss. I did the job last night and can confirm I would have broken it if I didn't realize this. If there are any questions about this, reply and I can go more into depth about it.!

Can you go in more depth please? So i don't have to remove the 2 panels separately?
@masonphillips6605
@masonphillips6605 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrGandostar yeah so on the top side of the tv after youve removed the bezel there are little clips that you must use a flathead screwdriver to release. You will see little cutouts with what looks like black bars(about 1/4 inch long) in them. Just push those in with a flat head util they pop. Once they are all popped the panel will come out with no effort. If it's not coming out super easily, stop! Then reevaluate. I had two broken tvs that I used parts from to make one working tv, and before I discover these clips, I actually cracked and already broken display. It doesnt take much force at all.

For anyone who is watching this video and are working on repairing a TCL 50S425 or Similar. Things I won't recommend doing to make the repair so much easier. • DO NOT TAKE OFF ADHESIVE! When you're on that step of getting ready to take off the screen look underneath the bezel area on all 4 sides there should be clips that you can pry off. Pry off all 4 sides. Use the suctions and lift off the screen. • When you lift off the screen make sure your hands are clean and I wouldn't recommend putting tape on the corners to hold the three sheets as the video recommended, the tape leaves residual on the sheets. • I replaced my Backlights without pulling off the white paper sheet. What I did was carefully cut around and In between which made it easier and less work. • After the repair of backlights and sheets are back in, make sure the screen is aligned directly in the middle. Mine was a little off to left side more than right which caused not so good alignment to input the screws in the left side but I didn't mind because it was still stuck in there without the screws. • What I also recommend doing is organize your screws. What I did is put them in the Air Pillows I had left over from the packaging of Backlights. They are many screws to take off and you can easily lose some since they are so small. Overall this took me about 4 hours to do? Personally for me the repair wasn't too bad it's just a process of staying organized, careful, and patient. You can either buy the LED Lights from the website called jimmyshop - No Free Shipping OR Their ebay marketplace which is free shipping.

He explained everything very well, started to watch a different video and would have broke my tv before I ever got it apart if I hadn't found this one. My husband thought I was nuts at first but once I had it down to the screen he stepped in to help and other than the one top corner cracked a little it (he wasn't kidding when he said be gentle) works better than before, leds were larger then what was in it but the picture is brighter which is good. I've never commented on a video before but our tv would have been in the trash if it wasn't for this. The 30 bucks for the led strips and 6 bucks for suction cups was much better then 550 for a new 55" TCL tv.
@Omnilink12

This is a great guide. Few corrections: 1) Tape the dangling circuit boards (the ones that hang by ribbon) to the top of the screen. This will not damage them and will prevent you from damagnig them when lifting off the screen. 2) As others said do not remove the adhesive on the top, just unclip the top frame.. Use a flat head and push up on the clips while using a suction cup to gently lift the screen (to give you some leverage). 3) After you remove the glass screen, the three filters need to be removed. If possible, gloves to avoid smudging these, as it's very hard to clean them. 4) Also would recommend just cutting the paper around the LEDs instead of trying to peel off the whole thing. I can confirm this does not impact use at all.

Thanks for great video. I just did a 4 year old TCL 55S423. I did it just to see if I do it. TV wasn’t that expensive to begin with and easily replaceable but I thought it looked fine for my use and why contribute to more land fill if I could fix for under $50. I bought the light from Amazon but was concerned that there were only 4 strips for just two rows of LEDs. Once I got it apart this indeed the case. I tried to peel back that base but it was stack down. So I just cut out the strips which worked great. They were not screwed down but had a bit of adhesive the new lights had tape applied. I was most concerned about any adhesive holding the LCD panel to the frame but as it it turns out the panel sat in the frame no adhesive at all and just lifted right out. One big tip get a magnetic Phillips screwdriver.

However, after assembly, the TV screen remained black except when I shined a light onto it; then there was no longer any image. There was still sound. I wondered if this was due to cable connection issues. Do you have any advice? (Edit): Solved. The two flat cables have to line up perfectly, as they affect the clock signals controlling two halves of screen video.

Thanks for the tutorial, unfortunately I did put a small crack in the LCD when reinstalling the bezel, I heeded instruction and was careful but it's way more fragile than I anticipated :(. I do have however have picture again, despite the crack so I know I did everything else right . At least I can take solace in the fact is able to fix the original issue. :)

I watch the video about 5 times and decided to try and fix my TCL 55 inch everything went like the tutorial with some differences that didn't pose a problem until I tried to separate the top of the screen from the 2 sided tape. This TV must be a later version because it was really stuck. The screen cracked and the crack traveled across most of the screen. After that I noticed how the top plastic strip it was stuck to could have been released and removed with the screen. The sides and bottom of the screen released easily but the top would not. Hope this helps prevent someone from cracking their screen

Did you replace one strip or all. I can see the second one from the top on the left side is the replaced one as it is less brighter than the other.

Before I get started on doing all of this to my 55” TCL tv, I wanna say that it did one time turn on and work with its full picture, but then when I turned it back on later it went back to doing this. I’ve tried all other methods to fix it aside from doing all of this. Should I go through with taking it apart considering it did work again that one time?

Thanks for posting this. I ordered the light kit and worked like a charm. Only thing I did different is no suction cups... I didn't want to make trip across town to get them so just used thin plastic card to slide all round edge to free the adhesive and then lifted screen out carefully. Maybe I got lucky but worked fine for me.

I have two identical TCL 55S446. TV1 has many, many dead pixels and will be the donor, other one (TV2) that I want to fix has screen uniformity issues. TV2 part of the screen is cloudy looking or is darker than the rest on one side. Is this due to the white sheets show in the video (I think it's called the defuser sheets). Would transplanting the white sheets from TV1 to TV2 fix the screen uniformity issues such as the cloudy looking picture and darkness issues on one side of the screen?

I have a TCl 55" S405 about ~4 years old. Do I also need to buy a led tester? Or just change all the led stips? (I have the classic problem of TCL logo comes on for a fraction of a second and then the menus are super dim, can see it with flashlight in a dark room)

Gave it my best shot and was as careful as I could be, and still broke the LCD screen. Bought everything recommended here, too. I think it happened during the process of putting the display back on. To anyone else who broke the screen, don’t feel bad, this is NOT as easy as it looks on various KZbin videos… I’ve successfully repaired a multitude of different smartphones, repaired and built small and large drones, built and repaired computers & laptops, tore down a GoPro and rebuilt it… but still failed this exercise. By far the fragility of the display makes this one of the toughest repairs I’ve ever dealt with. If it wasn’t for that, this would have been extremely straight forward.
