There IS no freaking menu button on my Vizio remote. The TV itself wants me to download the smartcast app, which doesn't exist anymore, and when I download the Vizio mobile app, it wants me to tell it the four digit code appearing on my tv, except I can't get a four digit code to appear on my TV like it used to years ago. It's E-Series; it's supposedly a smart TV, but nothing in this video is useful to me because it starts from the assumption I have a completely different remote than I have.

Vizio tv's are garbage. Bought a v505 for $400 and out of the box the video and audio were out of sync. The tv is now 6 months old and the audio keeps going out. You have to reboot the TV to get the audio back. Changing between apps, the tv shuts down and won't turn back on. You have to unplug and plug back in to turn on the TV. Called tech support and was told they don't have parts for a 6 month old TV. They will ship a USED TV in exchange for the original tv. But first you have to submit your credit card info so they can put a $400 hold (original tv price) on my credit card. If they receive your original tv damaged, your credit card will be charged. So basically spending $800 for a used tv. It will be your responsibility to recoup your money from the shipping company.

I have a question about a D series 55" TV, it hasn't been connected to the net for about 3 or 4 years until I recently connected it to the net about a month ago, it seems the TV no longer takes updates, I know it at least communicates with the WiFi (2.4GHz) router to a point and everything else that communicates with the router can access the net without issue, for the TV I tried factory reset, unplug wait then plug back in, test the connection and the TV will acknowledge it is connected to WiFi but the download test fails, so my theory is Vizio may have moved their firmware to another IP and discontinued the older IP, if the TV was connected to the net since it was new years ago it may have got a firmware update giving it the new IP to fetch the latest firmware but since that never happened I'm basically stuck with a regular TV that no longer has functioning apps nor can I access the app store, the TV simply doesn't have the IP(s) built into the firmware to download anything or communicate with the server. Anyone here know if there is a alternate way to get this TV up to date since it can no longer do it on it's own? I'm kinda tech savvy at least with computers so if someone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmmm. TV updated while I was watching. Posted message that it would restart after update. TV never restarted and just went to black screen. Waited 30 minutes and still black screen. Yanking the plug now and rolling the dice. Update: After power cycling the TV (Unplugged it) it came to life with the latest firmware. Maybe I should head on out to Vegas and try my luck there now.....

When I click menu or input, the options are blank. There are squares to select but they don’t have letters. I would have to blindly navigate the options. Luckily I know hdmi 1 is the 5th option in input but as for settings, I won’t know what I am selecting.

When audio is out of sync select pcm instead of surround sound your problem will be solved. Also select ECO mode which will definitely solve your issue.

Vizio M43-C1 43" does not have a "Check for Updates" selection in my sub-menus. How can I do an update? Version V1.5166-UHD. Driver Date 6/21/2006. Driver Version: 10.0.19041.1151 Thank you in advance.

Now it just keeps cycling through updates. Has been doing this for a week, it never completes. Have tried resetting tv to factory. (- and input, then input) and still keeps doing the same thing. The installing updates bar advances to about 2/3 then freezes.

This only works if you update the firmware on your servers. Still waiting on a back screen fix, the sound bar shouldn't be detected and flicker every single time I turn on the TV, and the cast function shouldn't require me to reboot my TV to work...

Yeah two days ago my TV did a firmware update and now it's a useless piece of junk. Absolute garbage. This tv is a year old and because of some BS update that I had no control over it no longer works.

This brand sucks. I enjoyed a simple UI for years, and then one day the UI was updated and I woke up to a nighmare of slow loading menu screens when there was once just broadcast channels. It doesn't even show you what channel is on the screen when you change channels. The next TV I buy will be a not Vizio for the rest of my life.

I recently tried to update the firmware on a Vizio V505-G9. I keep my TV disconnected from the Internet to prevent Vizio from “collecting user information”. When I reconnected the TV to the Internet and tried to update the firmware, the process froze. I contacted Vizio tech support. Ultimately I was told the TV had to be repaired at my cost! A Vizio firmware update bricks my Vizio TV and I have to pay to get it fixed!?!

Yeah I got the 50" from Walmart less than 4 month ago and today the picture screen just went blank and I don't even watch this TV no longer than a few minutes a day and that kind of creeped me out. I was told to power off the TV then unplug it and press the power button for 10 seconds then plug back in and turn it on. The picture screen was back on but this shouldn't have happened to a brand new TV that I hardly ever watch.

Caution do not do an update on your vizio tv. . I have Netflix that buffers once in a while .now that they did a update I did not do myself. It's buffres so much you can't watch tv. I have 3 vizio tv3 . Will not buy 1 again.
