You make it all sound so logical and straight forward Peter.. The maths always works, plugging in values,.... but really thinkng about how the maths works gives true insight into what's going on with those little electronic components. .. this is another valuable resource for us all. How do you calculate the current in a L in a resonant circuit so as to use the correct wire gauge when winding the L?
@vk3ye5 жыл бұрын
With QRP it's normally not an issue. But it would be for high power stuff.

@@vk3ye Thanks - studying for my advanced license for exams this coming weekend, as a consequence all these questions keep popping into my head, but I must focus on syllabus! I should be able to offer a call sign if all goes well.....

@@vk3ye I found the answer in the ARRL handbook. The circulating current is proportional to the circuit current times the Q of the circuit. They give an example, circuit current 30mA, Q of resonant circuit is 100, so inductor current is 3000mA!

Have you ever hought about doing a book with some of the electronics tips for HAM radio in a similar format to your other ones? Cheers.

I would find it hard to beat Talking Electronics www.talkingelectronics.com/ All online, free and Australian. HOWEVER, there is another project I'm close to announcing, to provide daily content on certain radio topics. Stay tuned!

And there is also 'The Australian Ham Radio Handbook' now out.
