I was in a bar in Florida when a Russian guy walked in seen the piano and said can I play. sure. he sat down and started to play show tunes and then turned and said to me what do you like and I said Pink Floyd really meaning not show tunes. he then proceeded to play Pink Floyd for about 2 hours. it blew me away I never thought Pink Floyd could sound so good on just a piano. I never seen him again.

LOL, I'd never heard that song before. 10 BILLION views on youtube. I suppose it's kind of catchy but....10 BILLION views? Btw, I switched over to keyboards from a lifetime of guitar. I'm 71 and it's a bit tougher to learn than when I was younger. I tell parents to get their kids started EARLY. Wish there were youtube online lessons and digital pianos when I was a teenager. Back then you had to buy a REAL piano, which my parents could not afford.

I rarely comment but you're just amazing. The David Gilmour solo in this song is my favorite... to play and to hear. The emotion of it I didn't think could be captured with piano just because of all the bends... it "cries" out so much. But the way you played it.... I'm in awe. Thank you... thank you for recording this.

Her capacity to Gilmour-shred a piano never ceases to amaze me. She has a particular playing style that renders the usual precisely-intonated limitations of a keyboard meaningless... she hits a lot of slightly sloppy grace notes that capture that kind of rock and roll feeling. I think this solo is probably the best example of it (not least because it's one of Gilmour's greatest).

I've long tried to put my finger on exactly what is different about VK than every other pianist, that I've heard. To me… it's like she uses both hands as one. She seamlessly passes melody and accompaniment from hand to hand, to cater for different melodic aspects of the song, all the while encapsulating all of the essential elements of the piece. With one set of hands, or rather, one singular vessel of sheer musical prowess, carrying the music of the full band. Not compromising any of the harmonic or melodic content of the music, for the sake of playability, despite the instrument's limitations, comparatively with a full band. With the exception of a handful of pieces, Vika doesn't play a lot of arrangements that I necessarily like, but she is without a doubt, one of the best pianists posting on youtube!

Not only are your Floyd intrepretations technically and stunningly on point, not to mention heartbreakingly beautiful, but I can't shake a certain sense of wistfulness I get as they are very evocative musically and seem to get to the essential, elemental core of the Floyd as the quartet of musicians they originally were before all the fairy dust and bombastic stage production + myriad, faceless session musos that would ultimately dilute their uniquely idiosyncratic brand of melancholia post-Waters era.

Dreamz While many people think the song was about drugs, Roger Waters claims it is not. The lyrics are about when as a child he was sick with a severe fever. As an adult, he often had periods of time where he relapsed into a similar state of delirium, where he felt detached from reality. He actually has actually stated that the lines, "When I was a child I had a fever/My hands felt just like two balloons" were autobiographical. He explained: "I remember having the flu or something, an infection with a temperature of 105 and being delirious. It wasn't like the hands looked like balloons, but they looked way too big, frightening. A lot of people think those lines are about masturbation. God knows why." To me personally, the entire song can be summed up by the title alone. He has become "comfortably numb". This man has been pushed to the point where his physical state has succumbed to his emotional pain and he can no longer differentiate between the two. He'd rather feel nothing at all, be numb, than be in a constant state of agony, of darkness. The verse "When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye" is also important because there is no greater symbol of hope than our youth. Children are pure and innocent, in their eyes the world is an amazing place where possibilities are endless. They have yet to be tainted by failure or loneliness. He caught a "fleeting glimpse" of this happiness, this sense of fulfillment within himself. But as we grow older, with each passing year this hope seems to diminish leaving only pain, regret, and disappointment in it's stead. Drug addicts are addicts for a reason, because they feel they are out of options. They no longer wish for happiness, it is incomprehensible, so they settle for just being "numb". It's really very sad. He is trying to tell us why he needs this why he needs to just not feel anymore.
