The soldier having to use his credit card is based on the real invasion of Grenada (1983). The US Army didn't have electronic contact with the US Navy, so an Army officer had to make a phone call from a payphone in Grenada using his personal credit card to get the Army to contact the Navy so they could direct artillery fire from the ships offshore.

Also, the cube doesn't make just decepticons, the reason why those machines turned into decepticons was because as Agent Simmons (John Turturro) explained, most of Earth's technology was reverse-engineered from Megatron, so that's why the cube's energy created decepticons out of those machines.

V, you're on an absolute roll. Finally watching movies I've been waiting for you to see for YEARS. And I thought Christmas was last week! Some of my favorite little facts about this movie: It looks like one big car commercial from the 00s because Bay directed car commercials before movies. He's also a huge supporter of the US military and the feeling is mutual (If i remember right, his brother served), so the majority of military extras are actual personnel. Optimus Prime was designed to be played by Liam Neeson, but enough of the crew were fans and were able to get Peter Cullen, the original voice since the 80s, to come back. Frenzy's weird voice isn't computer generated or edited, they just told the voice actor to go off. The Scorponok chase scene was slightly unplanned. Bay got the reaction he wanted from that slowmo clip by putting actual bombs in the ground and only telling the actors to "just run like hell or you'll die".

After hearing you mention Hot Shot so much, I had to go look up who that was. Apparently he was supposed to BE Bumblebee, but there was an issue over naming rights. Bumblebee is an OG autobot alongside Optimus, and both are arguably the most popular autobots since day one. Bumblebee and Sam Witwicky (known by the nickname Spike in the original 80s cartoon) have a lifelong bromance, what Jay and Silent Bob would call "hetero lifemates". Their friendship is a cornerstone of the whole property, which is why it's included here. And for the record, all the autobots depicted in this movie are Gen-1 OG characters from the 80s cartoon, though I'm not sure if the same is true for all the decepticons.

The only Decepticons in this movie who are true to their original G1-selves are Megatron, Starscream, and Brawl. SO AWESOME you're getting into this franchise VKunia :) this movie was the modern day Jurassic Park for me as its effects were so realistic that at times I legit thought they had real robots onscreen in 2007.

Transformers One is amazing, Love Bumblebee too, but that's about it beyond the '80s animated movie. I grew up with the Michael Bay Transformers films, but looking back on them now, I just don't care for them anymore. I still think the first one is the best out of all the Bay films, though, definitely my personal favorite. But it just fell so fast into mindless CGI action and lacked the heart of the cartoons, something Bumblebee and Transformers One brought back for me. Also the intro to Bumblebee was everything I wanted in a Transformers film.

What I hate about the Bayverse is how they made them too alien looking. Bumblebee movie however was the perfect blend between classic G1 and Bay's design. I only wished they focused on the robots than the humans

I’ll always have a soft spot for the first Bay film (and absolutely none of the other ones) but yeah. From now on, Transformers One is the definitive Transformers movie in my eyes.

I’ll always love the action in the bay films but yea Bumblebee and Transformers One are far superior. One of big reasons why is the fact the Transformers themselves finally feel like well defined characters and get to be the main focus

The movie is set in fictional "Mission City", which is in Nevada. However, the principal filming was done in LA along with Michigan Central Station.

The voice actor of Optimus Prime based his personality on his older brother who was in the Marines. His brother told him to be a good leader you need compassion which is why Optimus Prime is adamant about protecting those who need protection.

39:27 In most continuities Optimus and Megatron are/were brothers in arms, not directly related. Before the War for Cybertron, their society was based on a social class hierarchy that was oppressive. Megatron and Optimus would work together to try and change things, but while Optimus wanted to make peaceful reforms, Megatron wanted to reshape things in his image, and eventually they were at odds. Highly recommend if you’re looking to indulge more in the franchise to watch Transformers Prime, and play the games War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. Also Transformers One that was released last year

Bayverse Optimus and Megatron aren’t biological brothers, they were close friends and had the same mentor so that’s why he calls him “brother”
@DankBlitzwing16 күн бұрын
While most modern iterations of Transformers depict Optimus and Megatron as brothers-in-arms, the Bayverse prequel comics from IDW Publishing showed that these versions of the characters are biologically related to each other.

In the Transformers Animated continuity, Hot Shot was the original name for the character that would become Bumblebee. The name change was apparently due to Bumblebee's appearance in the 2007 film. He is part of Rodimus's team.

I wonder if the series you initially saw was Transformers Armada that played back in the day on Toonami. That was my introduction to Transformers and still love it to this day even if as an anime it doesn't hold up very well.

It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie, the scene with Optimus and the other Autobots arriving on Earth will always give me the good kind of chills. Little backstory: Since I was born in 1991, I didn't get to grow up with Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus. In 2001, my first exposure to the Transformers universe was through the series Robots In Disguise, with a voice actor named Neil Kaplan providing the voice of Optimus Prime. Then from there it went to the Unicron trilogy with Gary Chaulk as the voice of Optimus. I didn't get to fully bask in the glory of the Autobot Supreme Commander until this movie came out in 2007. I have a profound appreciation for what Peter Cullen has brought to the table in the world of the Transformers. Between the live action movies (4 and 5 are horrible), and the Transformers Prime series. He is forever my favorite voice actor for Optimus Prime. I just hope I get to meet him one day before he inevitably passes.
@BogeyTheBear17 күн бұрын
Peter Cullen said his inspiration for Optimus' voice came from his brother in the armed forces who told him _"A true leader never has to shout..."_ Which explains why Optimus is so measured and confident in his delivery.

Bumblebee is the Japanese name of Perceptor in Transformers: Armada. The Mini-Con Sparkplug was also based on the original Bumblebee, while Hot Shot was in fact going to be named Bumblebee but had his name changed due to trademark reasons by Playcore, who used Bumblebee's trademark name for a swing.

39:37 “Starscream’s gonna be _really upset_ when he finds out _Megatron’s_ gone.” Looks like you don’t remember a whole lot about the _dynamic_ between the two of them. See, Starscream is in charge of the Decepticons when Megatron is not around, but it’s not because he _works_ for Megatron. It’s not like an organization, where whoever’s at the top determines the command structure. It’s more like a pack of wolves and Megatron is the alpha. When he’s not around, _Starscream_ is the alpha. Now, Starscream _likes_ being the alpha. The Starscream from the cartoon series would be _thrilled_ with the news that Megatron is dead. In the ’86 animated movie, it looked like Megatron was dead and Starscream was pleased and scheduled a coronation to make himself official _leader_ of the Decepticons, inasmuch as such things can _be_ official.

@@stephenmiller2544Not necessarily. It seems that from Vee's comments on how Starscream and Hot Shot were her favorites, she grew up on watching 'Transformers: Armada', the best part of the Unicron Trilogy. I think one reason is the time for completion has gotten to the point of the companys making sacrifices on the CGI
@dylanburston745316 күн бұрын
@@shanedaley6236 A total reliance on CGI is whats done it, and a lack of understanding on a directors part. Even tho in this film, the actuall CGI is god tier, it gets alot out of being shot by michal bay, who understands it. He uses practical effects, so they actually interact with the enviroment, and he composes the shot like they are actually there. For example, when Prime and bone crusher fight, they fall out of frame for a split second when falling, like it was actually all in camera. Weras other directors would have the camera pan perfectly to capture the moment, or cut to a different shot entirley. Another example is when Blackout starts up his rotor weapon in the city, it hits a road sighn causing sparks to fly. A prime example of the difference is ROTB, which mostly takes place in empty spaces with no extras, and no interaction with the enviroment

I've actually seen a specter gunship unleash in real life (Iraq in the early 2000s). And while that scene does it justice, the real thing is even more ridiculous. It's one of those rare events that when you witness it, leaves you in awe at how far humanity has come. The Space X catch was the last time I felt that so I count myself lucky to have experienced it twice in this lifetime.

You're correct, that was indeed Brian Stepanek who played Arwin on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody(as well as a few appearances in the spin off, Suite Life on Deck). Brian also played Phears in the Mostly Ghostly movies on Disney Channel among various other Disney Channel roles. Last I saw, he was playing a character in the Loud House live action movie and/or tv show(I'm not sure which). That said, is it too much to ask for a movie about aliens coming to earth without the government being involved or at least written to NOT be jerks that don't listen and think they know everything?
