Ive watched this entire video 3 times and loved every minute along with so many other videos. I am considering to have a go at my vl. Body work at this stage and see if ive got the confidence at the end to tackle something like this. In the end it would be one hell of a achievement but being such a old car and doing all the prep to ruin the end result would be a shame. I think at the moment my heart is set on stripping it back. Mostly rock chips along the body & 2 minor 50cent pieces on the roof! These videos give me somewhat a direction to go in, I just don't know if I should go back to bare metal or fill in the few minor imperfections. 😅

So epoxy seals, primer is before base coate. Am I correct or totally wrong 😅
@vautorefinishing7672 Жыл бұрын
You are correct mate , unless you are using a primer that is direct to metal. but epoxy is non porous which wont let moisture in or out where as most primers will 👍🏼

Nice brother! What are your thoughts on modern acrylics?? 🤔🤔
@vautorefinishing76722 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, They have their place man and can get great results and a lot of blokes still like their cars done in acrylic for originality just each to their own i guess man.

@@vautorefinishing7672 Fair enough mate, I’m a rank amateur so thought I’d ask the pro, I suppose no booth for most may sway the home DIY man towards acrylic, I know my neighbours were very aware when I started blowing 2-pac around but then again, they also whinged when doing acrylic work so can’t win! 😂😂😂

What's your thoughts on hamr coatings after using them for a while mate? Considering using their base coat and clear for my build
@vautorefinishing7672 Жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, i really havent had an issue at all with using it myself, Always one of those things though someone will have negative opinions on it but myself personally ive had nothing but good results with it. Base lays down nice and easy and so does their premium clear and for what you pay for it compared to the big brands its an easy choice. When the time comes ill be using it on my own projects as well mate

@@vautorefinishing7672 thanks heaps mate appreciate the review. I have heard good things given the price point. I would imagine it to be similar to protec possibly in quality and price. If its good enough for a qualified painter it's good enough for me. I'm pretty sure iv made my mind up on the hamr stuff. Protec close second because of budget
@vautorefinishing7672 Жыл бұрын
@Matt Hildebrant yeah thats it mate, ive used just about everything out there. Currently use PPG daily but to me the HAMR is very similar to a Baslac in terms of base and clear. Not quite as thick as Baslac but sprays very similar. Thats right mate for the price point of it, its very hard to beat it for value for money. Just follow the TDS sheet supplied and you’ll be fine especially if you have done any spraying before
