I'm from Detroit born and raised and I'm fascinated by the BMF show. The 80s was a golden era for me. It was my early childhood and I love seeing my city portrayed during that time. Even the lighting in most scenes is a beautiful golden glow. Detroit doesn't get a lot of shine but I love seeing the Coney's, downtown, Greektown, Ambassador bridge, all the streets, clothing, and music from that time. This show even has me loving the Loose Ends song You can't stop the rain even more. I just love watching it and it blew me away when they were in the mall scene and mentioned Northland. Even Meech and Tiny had a scene at Northland. That's the mall we went to many Saturdays in the 80s and 90s. This show even though violent brings me a lot of joy because of the era it's in and being filmed in my hometown.

I'm not from "The D" but I am from my beloved Georgia. Detroit DEFINITELY gets their just due and shine when it comes to hip-hop music and neo soul. Slum Village, Dwele, Em, Elzhi, Boldy James, Danny Brown, Clear Soul Forces. 😏👍🏾 A lot of great musical acts and celebrities put "The D" on the map!
