I got, what research has shown to be, an authentic Kagan Bilbao couch for free! A neighbor has moved in and I saw this gorgeous couch in the hallway and had to compliment her on it. I was so drawn to it that I just couldn’t pass up telling her it was a beautiful piece. She said it was the previous tenant’s and the person who bought it off them had been five hours late picking it up and wouldn’t contact her back. She asked if I was interested because the previous tenant had said to just junk it (!!!!!) if the person wasn’t coming- no money had been exchanged yet. I jumped at the opportunity because I had been in the market for a new couch anyways. It was a bit dinged up (which if authentic it is from the 90s so it’s in great condition considering that) but it was free, so I said I’d love it. This weekend I got the inexplicable urge to figure out where the couch came from. Figuring I’d find it on wayfair or Amazon, but instead figured out I have a gorgeous piece of history and art in my home ❤ so glad a piece of Vladimir’s legacy found a forever home where it will be well maintained and appreciated instead of getting junked.
