Russia will be on the right side of history when this sad conflict (which began in 2014) is over. Indeed is was engineered by our inglorious western leaders in 2013 (if not before), in my opinion as a response to Russia-friendly president Yanukovych (from Donetsk) being elected in Ukraine in 2010. Good luck to Russia and her allies who want to bring peace back to the region 🙏

Phrasing the incursion as a matter of Rosgvardia frames it as mere Galician 'reconnaissance in force' along a poorly secured Southern border - which explains the speed of penetrating almost 50 km along main roads, but not the sustained success. Aviation could have neutralized all vehicles within the first 48 hours - not to speak of minefields... This incursion better be a planned Russian ruse - keeping armies of the Western Military District in concealed positions around Kursk in order to counter-attack into an undefended rear of Kiev than making it a call for recruitment amidst incompetent military intelligence...

Putin looks annoyed and should be. His army leaders have let Russia and the Russian people down. One cannot understand how the Ukrainian army managed to enter into Russia and progress so fast and far into Russia in such a short time. Very embarrassing.
@encompassthyeclipse72782 ай бұрын
In war there are zones that are off limits and agreed upon by both sides not to be a staging ground. Kursk was one of those places, and would have remained one of those places if Zelenskyy hadn't ordered an incursion. It lacks fortifications, as does the Ukrainian side of the border in the same area. Piling 400 armored vehicles into an agreed upon DMZ was foul play. He broke a fundamental rule, now watch what the Russian response to this is before deciding that it is "very embarrassing"
@tibersulla23052 ай бұрын
It is well explained how they did it, basically they rushed around the Rus defensive strong points like they had nothing to lose (guess they don't?) with little regard for their lives, once they bypassed said strong points they unload and infiltrate behind Rus lines. It's worth noting that, surprisingly, the Rus border is not as well fortified as the frontline inside Ukraine, were there's more concentration of troops and fortifications and this prob wouldn't have worked as well. This is without a doubt humiliating to Russia, nevertheless this Ukrainian incursion is not sustainable, rushing like this makes them exposed to Rus strikes and ambushes, logistics become a mess, there's little time to fortify positions, there's plenty of footage of all this happening, the Ukr are being whittled down. This is a desperate PR stunt with no strategic value whatsoever to make everyone conveniently forget how the war in Ukraine is going.

Russia should have been prepared for something unexpected going into the November US election. The national security establishment in Washington needs something to point to as a success, and a push into the Russian homeland fits the bill. The slow, but consistent escalation has been evident. Russia’s restraint has been laudable, but it can be perceived as weakness or fear, which is why the escalation will continue

Putin, as the highest ranking leader at the meeting, going into a lengthy introduction on what the meeting is about, what primary goals are, and offering his viewpoints, is the wrong way to go about finding a solution to a problem. It is okay to outline the problem with a short description, but then the leader should sit back and ask the lowest ranking member for comments. This will minimise the risk of those lower ranking members simply parotting the words of the leader and will form the basis for an open debate. After that it should be the 2nd lowest ranking member that gets to speak, and so on.
@glenndavis4792 ай бұрын
One must not forget that this is a PR roll for distribution...clearly what is to be discussed in as far as the plan is not for publication. From what I've been able to gather since the 6th is that Russia is smashing Ukrainian positions in the rear to halt any logistics getting to the troops in the Kursk area as this is where the long range platforms and reserves are. If I was Zelensky I'd be more worried about what comes after the Russians secure the breach. Also take into consideration that of the eight there only 2 are active military and the remaining 6 are administrative and civil representatives , the meeting has an infrastructure and civil logistics vibe to it really.
