Lil Reese on Getting Shot, NBA Youngboy, Chief Keef, King Von, Lil Durk, O-Block (Full Interview)

Lil Reese came through for his first-ever VladTV interview, and he started off speaking about his origins of growing up in Chicago on the Southside, where he started rapping at the age of 10. Around the same time, Lil Reese started getting in trouble with the law for minor offenses, but he says his life shifted after his brother’s death. Speaking more about music, Lil Reese detailed meeting Chief Keef, who he credits with changing the landscape of hip-hop in Chicago by pioneering the Drill sound. Lil Reese also spoke about Kanye taking him off of the remix and replacing him with artists from his GOOD Music label. Moving along, Lil Reese detailed being signed to Def Jam around the same time as Lil Durk, and during the conversation, Lil Reese explained why he left the label. There a way out but it’s tough and the money come real slow. We praise the street lifestyle though they get the respect and women. It’s a trap. When someone points it out everyone get mad. Truth hurts. We don’t have to live this way. There’s plenty of programs even in Chicago for students to get exposed to different careers and get mentors. It’s just not praised in our culture.

This is honestly one of the hardest interviews I’ve watched. At first, I thought Lil Reese was soulless with that blank stare in his face, looking like he was mad or annoyed at the questions flying at him, but then I realized the amount of trauma that this man has gone through and having no professional outlet to talk or reflect on it. I personally don't understand death and murder without real reason but I've never been through the hell these young men have. You can judge situations from outside but unless you've been through it you don't understand. Most of these kids never received alot if love that they needed so that was their family. I give my son alot of love and hope I raise him to do the right thing but I can't say if I moved into a certain area he won't be a natural killer.

The fact that you suggest that its a ‘trap’ is a clear indication that you have an issue with being held accountable for bad behavior. Reese is literally known as ‘the grim reaper’ in Chicago… as a result, the man is likely suffering from PTSD which would also explain why his responses were often incoherent. He wasn’t answering much because he’s incapable of intelligently expressing himself thru conversation.

I know the losses are big thing with all of them, but I feel like it was the same question over and over. “How do you feel about such and such passing/ how did it make you feel?” I some point I would have gotten pissed like damn I’m here for an interview not a who’s who of my dead homies.
