@@andremiller1566 "5 songs" is your opinion, not a fact. The facts are MJ is the larger star and has way more record sales, but that's what he sought. Prince has more range, (rock/jazz/funk/rap/r&b albums), can play more instruments, and has had the longer and steadier music career. MJ hit his peak in the mid 80s, while Prince kept going.

Quincy stopped working with Michael because it ran its course, and MJ didn't need his guidance as much anymore. MJ was really envious of Janet's sound at the time that was incorporating NewJack Swing, so Q recommended that he work with Teddy Riley since he was the originator of the style, thus the Dangerous album.

@TheBrownIsland You don't have a clue about WTF you're talking about. This has been stated in interviews by Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam, and several of MJ/Janet's collaborators. They had a silent creative competition going on. Go listen to Jimmy Jam's hours long Questlove Supreme interview. Mike was blown away by Janet's production on Rhythm Nation and he made it a mission to emulate and try to top it on his next record. It was Quincy who linked him with Teddy Riley because he created NJS and a lot of the urban records MJ liked at the time. Stop being a goofy and go do the research.

She said it right. Michael was more iconic. Vlad is right. Michael had better songs. If we were judging pure talent. It'd have to go to Prince. He produced, sang, and wrote his music. Michael couldnt play an instrument. But he was the instrument. Other than them being two black men, they didnt have enough in common musically to really compare them. Its really pointless to do so.

@@marby. Objectively, MJ does have a better Catalog Financially its worth more than Prince's Catalog. Thriller alone has outsold ALL of Prince's 39 records combined... Well I will say this Thriller was a great album. Off The Wall musically was stellar. Thriller was immaculately and pristinely produced. That's the difference. Purple Rain wasn't pristine like Thriller was according to Susan Rogers Prince's engineer. Prince was an accomplished musician for sure and became a great performer. Michael was working on his chops since 5 years old. I mean their is no comparison. I saw them both live in concert and in Europe. I never saw Michael Live in America, only in Europe. He ws respected like nobody. I saw Prince in New York the first time. back in 86. After that I only saw him in Europe. I loved Purple Rain, but he was inspired by Michael's Thriller short film. So he decided to shoot a movie, it was gamble ..but it worked.

Michael came first with the wholesome kid family entertainment, Prince was more for adults, lovers and couples. They are in separate lanes. Prince is his own writer, producer, choreographer and band, he played several instruments, Michael played none and had writers and producers. Rick writes, sings, produces and plays instruments just as Prince. They did a tour together and would try to out do each other, God I would’ve loved to see that….. No more MJ and Prince comparisons, both are great for different reasons……
