Part 1: • Tony Rock on Growing U...
--------
Tony Rock shared his perspective on the infamous moment when Will Smith slapped his brother, Chris Rock, during the 2022 Oscars. The incident, which revolved around a joke Chris made about Jada Pinkett-Smith, caught everyone by surprise, including Tony. Tony dismissed any prior tension between Chris and Will, mentioning that he had never sensed any animosity. He emphasized that he would have known if there were any issues, given his close relationship with Chris and his own professional interactions with Will. Tony also revealed that he didn't watch the Oscars and was informed about the slap through frantic phone calls from family members, which initially made him fear for his mother's well-being. Clarifying the incident, Tony acknowledged that Will initially laughed at the joke but then reacted radically, resulting in the slap. He pointed out that despite their separation, Will referred to Jada as his wife during the altercation, which was surprising. Tony's recount highlights the unexpected nature and emotional ripple effects of that moment.

@@jonstardc7160 Wish I could pin your comment. Also, with all the gay activities surrounding the Smiths, why is Tony Rock connected to them and no mention of Smith alternative lifestyle? An actor slapping another actor on STAGE of an award show for ACTORS that routinely display "controversial" moments. Also, a major drug company that produces a drug to fight hair loss was a sponsor for the award show for actors. This also ties in the documentary Rock did about hair and also the previous time Rock hosted the show where Smith was "snuffed" by the award show and didn't receive the nomination he felt he deserved. The scenario was part of a long running script.

What happens? Chris Rock was pushed back into the spotlight, and both Tony and Chris made extra money off the publicity from that slap. They literally lost nothing and gained more attention, which is what their careers depend on. The Rock's had a brother who never let disrespect slide. He was a murderer who became an alcoholic and later died while living in a homeless shelter. What type of respect did he have when he had a famous wealthy brother and still died broke and alone?

He has to take the mic from Vlad because he won’t shut the fuck up lol. I really appreciate how Vlad will explain someone’s personal moment instead of ask them to explain it…it’s like, what? It’s not like he brought them down to his studio so THEY can talk…that would be insane.

You can’t Fault Tony for having the reaction that he did if my phone was blowing up the way he was describing it I would’ve assumed something bad happened to my family member health wise. So I can understand where’s he’s coming from 💯

For the people complaining about Tony Rock speaking about this, he’s being asked a question. Keep that in mind before you go whining talking about oh this was so long ago why he still talking about it.🙄 This is his BROTHER and he has every right to feel however he feels about it unlike some of you apparently family less people out there. Willard is a weirdo for slapping Rocko in the name of “defending his wife” and then going on to feel remorse and APOLOGIZING for it afterwards. Is that what so called men are doing these days? If you’re defending your wife then stand on it bozo and tell Chris Rock eh do something about it then.🤷🏾‍♂️ Willard knew what he did was CRAZY and unintelligent to say the least. Personally I’m just waiting on there to come a time when any of the parties or affiliates meet face to face to really check each other’s temperature.🤔

Will Smith had enough. That year and the year before everyone on social media was making fun of him, questioning his manhood, burying him as a father and believe it or not he sees that stuff. There's only so much a person can take before they explode and that's exactly what happened, he snapped.

@josephpascal9310 simple put if people quit watching him he would pass into obscurity. It's people that make him famous. If you outright quit supporting people that are ignorant and rude. They wouldn't make anymore movies with him in them.

I wonder why the Oscars didn’t cut to commercial break right away? This was a formal event that was suppose to show elegance and class. Chris Rock showed exactly that which I admire and love. But the Academy failed to protect Rock from public scrutiny by airing the assault. For that, I will not participate in watching academy awards ever again.
